Crafton heads to Canada with former Ubisoft developers
Krafton Montreal Studio is Krafton’s new AAA Canadian game studio.
Patrick Mehte, a figure in the video game industry, has been hired by publisher PUBG to lead Krafton Montreal Studio and oversee the development of the video game adaptation of The Bird That Drinks Tears, a series of fantasy novels created and written by author Yong. Do it Lee.

Ambitious kit for Krafton Montreal Studio
While Krafton Montreal Studio’s goal is to hire 150 people over the next three years, AAA Canadian game studio Krafton already has several big names in the industry, such as producer Benoît Frappier, who has worked on Rainbow Six, Far Cry and Watch Dogs.. Manager Kate Lee, who helped launch PUBG on consoles, CTO Martin Paradis, who worked on Gotham Knights and several Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia games, Game Director Frederic Duroc, who worked on Far Cry, Rainbow Six, Prince of Persia, and Peter King Kong Jackson, the film’s official game, and art director Gwangjae Song, who has over 20 years of experience in concept art and art direction.
Bird Drinking Tears, Krafton Montreal Studio’s first project.
The Bird That Drinks Tears has been loved by Korean readers for 20 years now for its complex worldview and multifaceted characters. The narrative is characterized by its unique setting and characters that exclusively span East and West. The saga tells the story of four races: humans, lekcorns, dokkaebi and nagas, which begins with the first clashes between these races.
