Kraven Hunter: Ariana DeBose will become the supervillain Calypso

The Kraven-Calypso pair will appear in the film adaptation of Kraven the Hunter.

American actress Ariana DeBose (A Tale from the Bronx, Hamilton, Pippin) will join the cast of Kraven the Hunter and play the Haitian heroine Calypso Ezili, nicknamed the Witch or the Soul Hunters because of her “powers”associated with voodoo magic. Spider-Man’s rival, she is quickly brought to meet Kraven to try and eliminate the famous Spider-Man, but in vain. Moreover, she will eventually become the hunter’s mistress and will not hesitate to avenge him once he is dead.

Part of the Marvel Universe from Sony Pictures Entertainment (SSU), Kraven (played by Aaron Taylor Johnson) is one of Marvel’s most iconic and celebrated anti-heroes. He has met Venom and Black Panther among others and is one of Spider-Man’s most famous and feared adversaries. Directed by JC Chandor, the film will be released on January 13, 2023.
