LimeWire: last week to participate in the NFT giveaway
LimeWire is about to rise from the ashes. The first step is giving away 10,000 exclusive NFTs.
Paul and Julian Zehetmair, both entrepreneurs, decided to revive the LimeWire platform, well known to young and old who knew about the Internet of the 2000s and, in particular, peer-to-peer networking software. Platform version 3.0 will be dedicated to NFTs and specifically NFTs around music.
LimeWire is about to rise from the ashes
For those who don’t know, LimeWire was a peer-to-peer (P2P) software that allowed content to be downloaded through a decentralized network system, which therefore relied on content sharing by the users themselves. While P2P sharing itself is legal, it was very common, especially at the time, to share illegal content. It also allowed LimeWire to gain prominence, especially in music.
So much so that in 2006 the company was attacked by the very powerful Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which is responsible for protecting copyright interests in the music industry in the United States. The RIAA will finally win. After several fines, the software disappeared in October 2010 under the influence of an injunction.

Today, with Paul and Julian Zehetmire, LimeWire 3.0 sets out to rise from the ashes, still in the world of music, but on the right side of the fence, so to speak, before buying and exchanging non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Users will be able to buy or sell music-related works or objects, be it exclusive recordings, sample banks, demos, etc. And most of the income will go directly to the creators. Simply put, LimeWire 3.0 is “a platform designed for artists, not against them.”
This Friday, April 15th is the deadline for registering for the 10,000 exclusive NFT giveaway to be distributed by the platform. If you are interested, there is still time to join the waiting list. Please note that the more people you invite to participate in the adventure, the higher your position in the waiting list will be, which will give you more opportunities to get one of the exclusive NFTs.
If all goes according to plan, the LimeWire 3.0 platform will officially launch in May 2022 and begin selling its own $LMWR token in the fourth quarter of 2022.
