Lost Ark, a huge success on Steam for Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG.
Available for free on Steam, Lost Ark is one of the most popular games.
Less than five months after the impressive success of New World on the Valve platform, Amazon Games Studios and Smilegate RPG are setting new records with Lost Ark. Thus, the western version of the famous MMOARPG has reached over a million concurrent players (it is the most played game in 24 hours, the second most played game on Steam of all time, and the most played MMORPG on Steam) and peaked at over than 1.2 million concurrent viewers on Twitch with over 59.9 million cumulative hours watched during the launch week. Unheard of since PUBG: Battlegrounds, Krafton’s Battle Royale.
“We are touched and pleased by the enthusiastic response from gamers to Lost Ark,” said Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games. “Having two games in the top 5 most played Steam games of all time is a huge honor, and we are grateful to the Lost Ark and New World communities for making this possible. We are working closely with Smilegate RPG to add more content, regular updates, and keep a very active global community of Lost Ark players for years to come. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where the gaming community takes us. ”
Explosive demand for Lost Ark, new servers to the rescue
Lost Ark’s popularity has led to long wait times, which Amazon and Smilegate hope to fix with a new Europe server region: “Because of the game’s architecture, this is the only way to accommodate more players in Europe. So this is a collaboration between Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG. Rest assured we are open 24/7 until it goes live. While we understand that waiting times can be long, we need time to make sure everything is ready in order to provide all players with access to the game. We will inform you the exact time as soon as possible. ”
Amazon Games has partnered with Smilegate RPG to localize and translate the vast world of Lost Ark, which has millions of active players in Korea, Russia, and Japan. With the game’s launch in the West, Amazon Games is bringing this award-winning RPG to North America, Europe, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand for the first time, with written and spoken dialogue in English, French, German, and Spanish.
