Lumibowl: between collectible and NFT

Lumibowl: between collectible and NFT

French startup Lumiheart is launching its Lumiboots on Fnac today! A round sphere with a hand-painted figurine inside, but which also hides an associated aspect.

After Activision’s Skylanders and Nintendo’s Amiibo came Lumibowl from French startup Lumiheart. Unlike the two we mentioned, Lumiheart aims to offer fans regularly updated content. On its own, this bead is just another figurine on our shelves, but its connected side gives it a whole new value.

After downloading the dedicated app and creating an account, we have the option to scan (via our smartphone’s NFC chip) a small ball. This will be assigned a unique number (like NFT) that will allow access to a kind of “fan club”of the license to which this realm belongs. Thus, by scanning Lumibowl Batman, we will find special content such as wallpapers, as well as rarer things such as invitations to events. There are 3 categories:

  • SILVER: images, animated wallpapers…
  • GOLD: small gifts, codes, DLC…
  • WTF (What The Fun): These are much more insane donations…

Obviously, not all Lumibowls will have access to all rewards, and this makes it a collectible item. Subsequently, the startup plans to offer 100% virtual Lumibowl through its app, as well as NFT versions on the Ethereum blockchain.

At launch, there will be 13 Lumibowl themed around space, DC Comics, as well as Ubisoft and, more surprisingly, the French Football Federation or Team Vitality. They will be available on Fnac for €12.99.
