Madame Web: Dakota Johnson to be Sony’s first Spider-Man superhero
American actress Dakota Johnson is in final talks with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the lead role in Madame Web.
In Marvel comics, Cassandra Webb, aka Madame Web, is portrayed as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis. In order to continue living, she is connected to a web-like system. Due to her age and health, Madame Web has never actively fought villains, however, she is recognized as an ally and protector of the superhero Spider-Man. For the Sony Pictures Entertainment adaptation, Dakota Johnson’s incarnation (Wounds, High Note, Lost Daughter) will be completely revamped to be the equivalent of Doctor Strange, thanks in part to her psychic powers.
Dakota Johnson, future Madame Web Sony
While Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless wrote the script, S. J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, The Defenders, Accomplice) is directing Madame Web. It should be noted that the integration of a female character into the Sony Marvel universe has always been a priority for leaders due to the long list of strong female characters that have appeared in these successful comics over the years. The latter took their time to find a person to play the lead role and got to know many stars. Over the past two months, the list has been reduced, and Dakota Johnson has become the favorite.
