A day later, new information about the specifications and features of the S22 and S22 Plus was leaked online.
Tipster Evan Blass (via his substack forum) leaked marketing material about the Samsung S22 series. Let’s take a look at the specs and other details of the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus.
Specifications Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus
The Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will be unveiled alongside the Ultra model at the company’s first Unpacked event on February 9th. A week before the launch, Blass released marketing images of the base S22 and its Plus model.
Images confirm that the vanilla S22 will have a 6.1-inch screen, while the Plus model will have a 6.6-inch display. Both phones will have AMOLED Full HD+ displays with support for 120Hz refresh rates. There is also a cutout for a hole puncher in the upper part in the center. In addition, the screen is flat and surrounded by thin bezels. Marketing images confirm that the vanilla and Plus models will have HDR10+ certification and a display with a maximum brightness of 1300 nits.
Under the hood, the devices will have a 4nm Exynos 2200 SoC. Some regions will receive a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based chipset. While both phones will use the same SoC, their battery specifications will vary. According to the leaks, the standard S22 will have a 3,700mAh battery. It will support 25W fast charging. The Plus model, on the other hand, will have a 4,500mAh battery and support 45W fast charging. Samsung will not box the charger. Buyers will have to buy a new charger separately.
On the back, both devices will feature triple cameras. The design of the camera module is similar to the S21 series. However, the camera sensor setting is different. First, both phones will have a 50MP main camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Devices can be equipped with a Samsung GN5 sensor. They will also have a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera. The telephoto lens will support space zoom up to 30z, which is Samsung’s nickname for digital zoom. Both devices will feature a 10-megapixel f/2.2 front camera.
According to a recent leak by whistleblower John Prosser, the S22 will retail for $799 in the US, while the Plus model will retail for $999. The top variant of the S22 Ultra will cost $1,199.
