The messenger is preparing to return to the Facebook mobile app after nine years of separation
Meta is gearing up to reintegrate Messenger into its Facebook app. This is done in order to better compete with an application like TikTok.
It’s been a long time since Meta separated Messenger from its Facebook mobile app. This was at a time when Windows Phone was still on the market. Nearly nine years later, Meta is gearing up for a reunion of the two. “We’re testing the ability to allow users to access their Messenger inbox in the Facebook app, and we’ll be expanding that testing very soon,”said manager Tom Alison. “We want it to be easy and convenient to stay connected and share information with others, whether it’s in the Messenger app or directly on Facebook.”

When Meta removed Messenger from the Facebook app in 2014, the giant said “our goal is to focus our development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible and avoid the confusion of having mobile messaging apps separate from Facebook.”At this stage, no one knows if Meta intends to reintegrate its messaging into Facebook’s mobile web version. It started directing mobile web users to the Messenger app in 2016. Either way, having one less app on your phone shouldn’t be a bad thing. And you should also be able to message Instagram users directly from the Facebook app.
Meta made an announcement on his blog about Facebook’s major plans for 2023. This post is intended to convince people that “Facebook is not dead and is not dying”, the platform even has more than 2 billion users.

In an attempt to be more competitive with TikTok, Meta is trying to transform Facebook from an app for keeping in touch with friends and family to a platform more focused on entertainment and discovery. The giant is trying to “make Facebook the best place to discover and socialize,” as Tom Alison writes in a post.
One of the main reasons Meta is re-integrating Messenger into its Facebook app is to “make it easier for users to share what they find on Facebook through messaging, when, where, and how they want without having to switch to another app,”writes Tom Alison again. TikTok allows its users to share the videos they find with their friends through their own direct messaging system. So, on the one hand, Meta is backtracking to offer a proven experience, and on the other, once again copying a competitor.
