Meta Acquires Camouflaj, Armature and Twisted Pixel Games Studios

Oculus Studios, the VR video game division of Meta, continues its growth with the acquisition of three new studios.

After merging Beat Games, Ready at Dawn and Sanzaru Games under Oculus Studios to expand its video game catalog, Meta gets its hands on Camouflaj (which is doubling its workforce with Darkwind Media), Armature and Twisted Pixel Games to continue deliveries. their virtual reality headsets with exclusives that could compete with Sony Interactive Entertainment with PlayStation VR2 in 2023.

Chris Pruett, VR Content Director at Meta, said:

The Camouflaj (Republique, Iron Man VR) team has just joined the Oculus Studios family, as have Twisted Pixel Games (Wilson’s Heart, Path of the Warrior) and Armature Studio, a Resident Evil 4 VR veteran team in Meta Quest 2. It’ll pass what It’s a while before we can reveal what they’re working on, but we’re excited to continue working with and supporting these developers as they create ambitious, forward-thinking VR games.

Three new studios in Oculus Studios by Meta

Meta and Armature teamed up with Capcom to port Resident Evil 4 to Meta Quest 2 last year, which has been rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate this new style of play. Resident Evil 4 VR proved to be a huge hit, grossing $2 million. on the Quest Store within the first 24 hours of release and winning the Best VR/AR Game award at the 2021 Game Awards.

Camouflaj is the studio behind Iron Man VR, coming to Quest on the Oculus Store on November 3rd. The game was previously exclusive to PlayStation VR. Twisted Pixel Games is the creator of The Maw, Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, Ms. Splosion Man, The Gunstringer and Wilson’s Heart. He joined Microsoft after five years of independence in October 2011, but split from the American giant to become an independent studio again in September 2015.
