Microsoft Surface Duo is finally eligible for Android 11
Microsoft is finally bringing Android 11 to its Surface Duo, a long-awaited update.
Clearly, Microsoft is very interested in the mobile market, even if the Redmond company has made a number of more than dubious decisions over the years. For example, the Surface Duo, which was supposed to be the very first official Microsoft-branded smartphone, was announced in 2019, but did not finally hit the market until the end of 2020, and its hardware components were released in 2020.

In addition, the device was also launched with an older version of Android, although a newer major version was available. The good news, however, if you’re among those who fell in love with this Surface Duo, is that the American giant has just announced that the Android 11 update is finally officially available for this phone.
Long awaited update
Yes, you read it right. In 2022, although Android 12 has been available for several months now, Microsoft is releasing a 2020 version of Android. Better late than never, that’s for sure, but one might wonder, just to name a few, why Microsoft didn’t take the necessary steps to move directly to Android, given that the version has been available for some time and that several smartphones have already qualified for it.
Either way, the update in question is an important update for users. It brings a number of changes including the app drawer, improved drag and drop support, and more. Such a delay in monitoring could hurt Microsoft if the giant intends to gain a foothold in the market.
