Microsoft Teams introduces end-to-end encryption
Working from home has become almost the norm in many parts of the world. This means that many people use video conferencing solutions to attend meetings remotely, whether with colleagues, clients, classmates or relatives.
If you regularly use Microsoft Teams for video calls, you might be interested to know that the Redmond-based firm just announced that end-to-end encryption will be enabled for individual calls. users around the world on the Teams platform.
for his individual calls first
This feature was originally announced and, incidentally, revealed last October as part of a preview. If you haven’t participated in this preview, don’t panic as availability is expanding at the time of this writing. According to a Microsoft statement: “As a reminder, by default, end-to-end encryption will not be available to all users in an organization. After IT has configured the policy and enabled the setting for affected users, those users will still need to enable end-to-end encryption in their teams settings. IT retains the ability to disable this encryption for individual Teams calls when needed.”
Either way, it’s pretty surprising that it took Microsoft so long to bring this feature to their video calls. Especially since other platforms like Zoom have been offering this option for a long time. After all, better late than never.
