NCIS: old characters will not be forgotten in history
The heroes of NCIS will remember or recall old characters in several episodes of Season 20.
While the 20th season of the television series NCIS will air on September 19, showrunner Steven D. Binder announces that the writers will now be referencing some of the older characters in the scripts:
We’re still thinking about how to draw on Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in a way that doesn’t “scratch”or spoil what I thought was the only proper goodbye to this character. I want to start doing that with the character Abigail “Abby”Shuto (Pauly Perrette). I would like to start feeling his presence a little more. I think we were a little careless not to do this sooner, but there is so much going on… But she is still there, fighting for the cause and watching over us, she is part of us and we are part of her.

If Gibbs has already been mentioned after his departure, then this will be the first time about Abby. For the record, the penultimate episode of Season 15, which aired in May 2018, set the stage for original cast member Pauley Perrette’s exit in a seemingly random street attack in which the assailant shot MI6 agent Clayton Reeves with multiple bullets. and NCIS Chief Medical Examiner Abby Shuto is seriously injured. Reeves’ injuries were immediately fatal, with the hospitalized character Perrette clinging to life. At the end of this episode, Abby, having learned that Reeves died as a hero protecting her, promised to follow in his footsteps and do charity work for homeless women.
Paulie Perrette should not reprise her role as Abby in flashback sequences
In June 2019, a year after leaving NCIS, Pauley Perrette said she would never return before referring to an October 2016 incident in which Mark Harmon’s dog allegedly bit a crew member. In August 2019, CBS head of entertainment Kelly Kahl shared that Pauley Perrette “actually came to us a few years ago with a workplace problem. We immediately investigated and resolved the issue to everyone’s satisfaction.”
Last week, the American actress admitted that she has serious health problems:
A year ago I had a stroke. Before that, I lost so many family members and friends that I loved, my father, then my cousin Wayne. However, I am still surviving this traumatic life that has been given to me so far… And I am still so grateful, still so full of faith and still here!
