Mortal Kombat 2: New Line Cinema will release a new movie
Jeremy Slater will write the script for Mortal Kombat 2.
Far from perfect, but still profitable (over $70 million in revenue on a $55 million production budget), the new adaptation of the Mortal Kombat license will return in the coming years with a sequel, but without Simon McQuoid behind the camera. After careful consideration by the New Line Cinema/Warner Bros team, they have decided to bet on Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four, Death Note, The Umbrella Academy, The Exorcist), who is none other than the writer of Moon Knight., the next series of the MCU TV show with Oscar Isaac.
Mortal Kombat 2 could highlight the sulphurous Johnny Cage. The first film is about how Cole Young, a failed mixed martial artist, finds himself being hunted by Sub-Zero, the killer of the Lin Kuei clan. In order to protect his family and find out why he became a target for murder, he finds himself searching for the fighters who have been chosen to protect Earthrealm in a battle that opposes them to the forces of Outworld. Note that the cast was led by actors Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Tadanobu Asano and Chin Khan.
