Motorola is reportedly planning to launch two new flagships with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and Snapdragon 888+
Motorola may release the Edge 30 Ultra, also known as the Moto Edge X, in China. Even before the launch, some key details regarding the phone have surfaced, such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 SoC and a 60MP selfie camera. Since a teaser of the phone was released earlier this month, it was pretty clear that this could be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 898 SoC. While it was expected that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC could be unveiled at the Qualcomm Tech Summit on November 30, the chip maker appears to have a different naming plan for its new chipsets. Reports indicate that Qualcomm may rebrand the Snapdragon 888 as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. While Motorola won’t be affected, it will certainly take some time to get used to the new nomenclature. Today we also hear that Motorola may introduce more than one,
Popular tipster Digital Chat Station once again provided this information. According to him, one of the flagships will ship with the existing Snapdragon 8-series SoC, while the other will ship with the next-generation 8-series SoC. The inspector claimed that Motorola is also announcing a phone based on the Snapdragon 888+ chipset, an overclocked variant of the Snapdragon 888 SoC. It’s also Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, powering some of the most powerful phones and quite a few gaming phones.
Motorola teased Edge X earlier in China
At the moment, there is no information about the hardware characteristics of the phone with Snapdragon 888+. Even the informant didn’t talk much about the phone; However, he mentioned that the phone will be sold at a low price. It’s something good, and due to the different naming schemes for the Moto Edge 30 Ultra or Moto Edge X, Motorola is expected to release the phone in different markets.
However, Motorola has not yet officially announced anything about this. We’ll be keeping an eye out for further developments regarding Motorola’s upcoming flagships as the company also gears up for the launch of the Moto Tab G70.
