Don’t expect breakneck frame rates on Xbox when you play Redfall on release day, May 2nd. Indeed, Arkane Studios has revealed that the vampire-killing shooter will be capped at 30fps in Quality mode on Xbox Series X and S at launch. We will have to wait for the update, whose date has not yet been announced, in order to use the “Performance”mode at 60 frames per second.

Unfortunately, the developers have not explained why the 60fps mode has to wait. Perhaps Arkane and Bethesda will explain the reasons later. Until then, we must content ourselves with receiving information. On the other hand, 30fps mode renders 4K on Xbox Series X and 1440p on Xbox Series S. PC gamers’ frame rates will depend on the components of their machine.
Generally, 60fps modes in video games require compromises in terms of visual detail. For example, you need to run the game at a slightly lower resolution, accept slightly lower quality visuals, or display fewer characters on the screen. It’s not necessarily just a matter of tweaking a few settings – developers also need to make sure they don’t break the overall gameplay experience.
You will have to wait for a later update to take advantage of it.
Whatever the reasons, this is not good news for Xbox gamers. Redfall is a jumpy game that could benefit greatly from the extra responsiveness provided by the 60fps mode. Its temporary absence, we repeat, will not necessarily detract from the core experience of the game, but it can be disappointing if you are one of those who are happy to sacrifice graphics in the name of an even smoother experience.
