No, Ubisoft will not stop you from playing Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD on Steam.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will still be playable on Steam. The question is too imprecise a message from Ubisoft.
Owners of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD on Steam will not lose access to their game from September 1st. Ubisoft has clarified the situation after a warning appeared in the Valve store that the game will not be playable after this date. “Current owners of these games will still be able to access, play or re-download them,”a company spokesperson told Eurogamer.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will still be playable on Steam
This confusion about Liberation HD comes from an announcement made by Ubisoft a few days ago. In an effort to free up resources for these newer and more popular titles, the company said it plans to stop supporting online services for at least 15 games, including Liberation HD. Following this announcement, online features and downloadable content will no longer be available in most affected games. That being said, according to Ubisoft, the only game that will be completely unplayable is Spade Junkies due to its multiplayer nature.
Questionable too inaccurate message from Ubisoft
Many thought Ubisoft was planning to go even further when Twitter user Nors3 shared a screenshot of the Liberation HD Steam page: “Please note that this game will be unavailable after September 1, 2022.”specific. The warning then led many players to accuse Ubisoft of very bad practices.
The studio told Eurogamer that it is currently working with Valve and other similar platform owners to provide more specific information on the future of the 15 games affected by the decision:, and that’s what we’re trying to do today,”the company said.
