Netflix expands Basic with Ads subscription to 1080p
The Netflix ad support tier now has better picture quality and allows you to stream to two devices at the same time instead of one parallel stream at 720p.

Ad-supported Netflix gets 1080p resolution
Starting today, Ad-supported Netflix subscribers will enjoy improved picture quality as their video stream resolution finally jumps to 1080p (1920×1080 pixels). You can adjust the video resolution on the Netflix mobile app for iOS and Android or on the web by following the instructions in the Netflix Help Center.
You also get the ability to use two simultaneous streams at the same time. Prior to this change, the Netflix ad tier offered a single stream at 720p (1280×720 pixels).
A Netflix subscription with ads is still $7 a month, just like before. You can expect five minutes of 15-30 second commercials every hour. Some movies and TV shows are not available at this level. Offline downloads are also not supported.
You must purchase a basic subscription ($10 per month) to get rid of ads. Netflix also offers Standard ($15.50/month) and Premium ($20/month) subscription plans, more details are available on the company’s Plans & Pricing web page.
Recently, the Basic with Ads plan is available on Apple TV after several months of delays. At the time of writing, Netflix offers ad-supported plans in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK, and the US.

Netflix is also shutting down DVD.com, its subscription service that mailed movies on physical DVDs.) “After an incredible 25 years of existence, we have decided to close DVD.com at the end of this year,”reads an announcement in the Netflix newsroom.

The final DVD will ship to the customer on September 29, 2023. Returns will be accepted through October 27, 2023. If you are a customer, you can create a downloadable PDF copy of your rental history, ratings, reviews and more via the company’s data download web page at dvd.netflix.com/Download.
