Netflix with ads can cost $7 to $9 a month

A future Netflix advertising package could offer a significant discount over the platform’s existing offerings. The streaming giant will consider a $7 to $9 monthly rate, according to Bloomberg. In comparison, the most basic plan (“Essential”) is currently offered for 8.99 euros per month and does not offer HD streaming. You can pay up to €17.99 per month to enjoy 4K content.

This new package could arrive in half a dozen countries by the end of the year, with a wider rollout scheduled for 2023. Bloomberg reports that Netflix wants to prevent users from complaining about something very common in services that offer offers with ads. First, the company only wants to show about 4 minutes of ads per hour and won’t run ads at the end of an episode or movie. Also, the majority of subscribers will see the same ads, mostly because Netflix wants users to not see the same ads over and over again.
However, nothing seems to have been finalized yet.
Earlier, Bloomberg also reported that Netflix has no plans to run ads in children’s content or original films. The code found in the app also suggests that this new plan will not allow content to be downloaded for offline viewing. Netflix then called the Bloomberg article “pure speculation at this point”in a statement shared with The Verge, adding that it was still “deciding how to launch a more accessible promotional offering, a decision has yet to be made.”
Will it help to restart the platform?
For years, Netflix scorned the very idea of adding ads to its offerings, but that was before its numbers plummeted. In the most recent fiscal quarter to date, Netflix has lost almost a million subscribers after losing 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of the year.
