Notion launches Notion AI, artificial intelligence for content creation
The Verge was lucky enough to use the software until today’s official announcement. The interface is very simple. First you must select the type of content you want to write from the list. Options include a blog post, email marketing, or a to-do list. Then give the software a detailed description, click the Generate button, and watch the algorithm create the text in real time.
Judging by the materials written for The Verge, this tool, like other AIs of this kind, requires the user to have as much information as possible about what he wants to achieve. For example, when Notion AI was asked by a newspaper to write a blog post about the state of the smartwatch industry, the generated content mentioned the Apple Watch 4, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and Tizen. In other words, artificial intelligence was writing about the market situation in 2018, not today.
Ideal for blank page syndrome
Notion CEO Ivan Zhao was quick to acknowledge that the feature was in development. It is currently described as an alpha version with no specific availability date. To try Notion AI, you need to join the waiting list and wait for an invitation from the company. As for who this tool is for, know that Ivan Zhao sees this algorithm as a help for those who have difficulty getting started when they have to write on a specific topic. In fact, the idea is not to prepare an article ready for publication as it is, but to give a first draft that can be modified and deepened before you are satisfied enough to share it..
“The truth is, sometimes we all get stuck. In these situations, Notion AI can help you write,” says Notion in a one-minute promotional video shared by the company. With today’s launch, Notion AI is free, but the company says it may charge for it in the future. The company also explains that the feature will open up to more testers in the coming weeks and months.
