CSGO Ranking System Explained: What is the highest rank
Like all FPS video games that have their own unique features, CSGO has its own ranking system. This is one of the reasons why players grind it with endless hours of eternity. I personally put in over 100 hours (per week) to get a high rank. But there are several factors that affect the rating system. While some players start with Silver IV, some players like me start with Gold Nova I. The ranking system can get a little confusing as you progress. So, here is our guide to learn all about the ranking system and the highest rank in CSGO.
What is the highest rank in CSGO (ranking system)
Global Elite is the highest rank limit as there is no higher rank than this. Although the player base for this rank is less than 1%. But don’t worry, there are other ranks you can get as well. All ranks in CSGO are listed below:
- Silver I
- Silver II
- Silver III
- Silver IV
- Silver Elite
- Silver Elite Master
- Golden Nova I
- Golden Nova II
- Golden Nova III
- Golden Master of Nova
- Master Guardian I
- Master Guardian II
- Elite Master Guardian
- Outstanding Master Guardian
- legendary eagle

The ranking system is pretty simple. If you win competitive matches, your rank will increase. On the other hand, losing matches will lower your rank. It won’t happen if you lose at least one match, but it will certainly help. Your wins in these matches contribute more than your kills. Therefore, we suggest that you focus on winning with your team, and not on the score of the players.
For novice players who started playing the game until recently, here’s how to unlock your rank.
How to Rank Faster and Rank Up in CSGO (Ranking System)
- To unlock and get a rank, you need to win ten qualifying matches. These matches will determine the rank you get after completing the matches. But there is a restriction on participation in these qualifying matches.
- You can only play two qualifying matches per day. So, you need to make sure that you win all the matches.
- We recommend avoiding solo play during these matches, as you may encounter horrible random players. Such players intentionally lose or have no interest in winning matches.
- You need to play with teammates who share your interests in order to get a high rank. This can help you get a decent place after winning ten qualifying matches.
- As mentioned earlier, some players start with Silver IV or III, while some get Gold Nova I. Once your rank is unlocked, all you have to do is keep playing competitive matches. This is because with inconsistent grinding, your rank can also go down.
- While casual games can be played alone or with random players, this does not work for competitive matches. This may help lower your rank.
- You can train with your friends in workshop maps and casual matches. You can find out the callouts for each card by going through the casual cards. In addition, you can also check out our guide to find out all the callouts for the Dust 2 map.
- In addition, you can learn a lot by playing with veterans and experienced players. While some players may tilt a bit and get angry over mistakes, try to stay calm.
At the end of the day, CSGO ranks exist only for players to perceive your gameplay. It’s not that you can get the Dragon Lore weapon skin for your AWP by getting the Global Elite rank.
Do short matches affect rank?
The answer to this question is Yes! Short and long competitive matches affect your ranking. Winning short matches can also increase your ranking points (levels) as well as your ranks.
