Logitech MX Master 3S review: The best wireless mouse just got better

I’ve been using the Logitech MX Master 3 as my primary mouse since it came out in 2019. I’ve tested dozens of mice since then, but none of them have handled a decent amount of programmable buttons, advanced wireless connectivity, multi-device control, and long-term comfort as excellently as the MX Master 3. Logitech today released an updated version of the MX Master 3S.

It follows in the Master 3’s footsteps in wireless mouse excellence, but doesn’t improve enough to justify abandoning my MX Master 3 and opening up my wallet again.

As you might have guessed from the slight modification of the moniker, the 3S is slightly different from the 3. The new mouse has quieter left and right mouse buttons and supports higher sensitivity so your cursor can move further with less physical mouse movement. -and it’s all.

While I, a tech enthusiast, would love to see innovation in design and feature set, the MX Master 3S didn’t need many changes from its predecessor to be the ultimate performance mouse. Now it’s a bit more future-proof for an 8K monitor or a second 4K monitor.

Quieter clicks

The difference was immediately apparent when Logitech followed the MX Master 2S with the MX Master 3. But the slightly redesigned 3S looks identical to the 3 except for the white color option, but as soon as I started clicking the discrepancy became apparent.

Pressing 3S creates a soft click followed by a quieter sound when the button is pushed back. These sounds are supposedly 90 percent softer than the clicks heard when the left or right mouse button 3 is pressed down and reset. A Logitech rep told me that the company couldn’t use these quieter buttons before because they weren’t confirmed to withstand 10 million clicks.

The audible clicks of the MX Master 3 didn’t bother me before. I felt they emphasized my clicks, making them sharp and precise, but slightly more fatiguing than the same buttons on other mice like the Alienware AW720M wireless gaming mouse.

However, the 3S’s main buttons don’t feel any softer or flatter than the 3S’s. They still have a noticeable amount of travel so I can tell when they’ve hit bottom and they’re coming back quickly. The mouse still has fast clicks with no noise to prove it.

Super sensitive for 4K and above

From 4K to 8K resolution screens and multi-monitor setups, we often force ourselves to do more, multi-task, and follow projects with multiple pixels. With an optical sensor supporting a wider range of sensitivity than before, the MX Master 3S allows you to not move your hand as much to move your mouse around the dual 4K setting.
