Is one of your Apple AirPods not working? Try These Tricks

If one of your AirPods seems to have stopped working, don’t panic. There is a fairly simple solution. The same procedure applies to AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro first generation, and the latest AirPods Pro 2.
If you’re having trouble with your Apple AirPods, it’s a good idea to check if Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone. To do this, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the Control Center. Then make sure the circle with the Bluetooth symbol is blue. If not, click on it to activate Bluetooth.
Making sure your iPhone (iOS) software is up to date is also a good way to avoid potential problems with your AirPods. Software updates often include security fixes and sometimes add functionality to your AirPods. In other words, it is better to be aware of developments from this side. To do this, go to “Settings”, click “General”and select “Software Update”.
How to deal with AirPods that don’t work
- Put both AirPods back in the charging case and make sure they are charging. Let them charge for 30 seconds.
- Open the case next to your iPhone or iPad and wait until they appear on your device’s screen.
- Put your AirPods in your ears and play some music or video to make sure the sound works fine on both sides.
How to reset AirPods
- First, make sure your AirPods are in a charging case with the lid closed.
- After 30 seconds, open the case to connect your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad. Open the Settings menu on your device and tap Bluetooth.
- Find your AirPods in the list of Bluetooth devices and tap the i next to it.
- Select Forget This Device. You may have to scroll to find this option.
- Once your AirPods are forgotten, open the charging case, press and hold the button on the back for about 15 seconds. The LED on the front of the chassis should flash white.
- Now leave your AirPods in the open case next to your iPhone or iPad. You should see instructions to re-pair them just like the very first time.
Resetting your AirPods usually fixes this problem, but if you’re still having issues with one or both AirPods, also check to see if there’s a little dirt blocking the speaker output. If so, clean it up.
