Odyssey Team Announces Upcoming Cheyote Jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1
Team Odyssey’s upcoming iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak is in full swing, and as a sign of excitement this Sunday afternoon, the team took to Twitter to reveal the interface of said jailbreak, which looks like it will go through the name of Chayote.
As many will remember from the Taurine era, Taurine was originally called Odyssey14 before it got its official name, so it’s no surprise that the Odyssey team gives the prison break its own name. While there is still no ETA for release, the official naming as well as the reveal of the user interface are signs that the jailbreak is nearing completion and should be released in the near future.
A Sunday tweet from the Odyssey Team shows off a green and yellow interface, which in many ways reminds us of what the Taurine and Odyssey jailbreak interfaces already look like. It’s worth noting that the font used is slightly different, but users will be able to change the Cheyote’s color scheme from within the jailbreak app’s internal settings, as users already do in existing Odyssey Team jailbreak apps.
Other tidbits from the Cheyote app settings include options for:
- Enabling and disabling jailbreak tweaks
- System restore from jailbreak back to stock
- Installing a nonce
- Enable or disable the log window
- I’m going to recovery
- Choose between different preset themes
- Choice of up to two different custom colors for the interface gradient
Another tidbit that will interest users is the familiar Cheyote jailbreak tool OTA update when the Odyssey team releases updates:
Obviously, the Cheyote jailbreak will install the Sileo package manager by default, but users will be able to install alternatives such as Zebra if desired.
As you would expect from the many status updates posted by CoolStar over the past few months, internal confirmations between the Odyssey team and iDownloadBlog note that the Cheyote jailbreak will indeed be unrooted and that it will natively support iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.. 1 at all devices based on an exploit released earlier this year. The ability to include support up to iOS and iPadOS 15.3.1 is under study but not guaranteed.
iDownloadBlog also reported that the UI of the Cheyote jailbreak app will be open approximately two weeks after release, with the rest of the jailbreak components available at a later date.
The Odyssey team has already secured the website domain(s) for the upcoming jailbreak tool, and as the team is working on transitioning the jailbreak community from a traditional jailbreak experience to a no-root jailbreak experience, support will be provided on the team’s Discord channel for developers who need help with the conversion jailbreak settings into the new user interface so that they are fully compatible with the upcoming jailbreak of iOS and iPadOS 15 Cheyote.
