Developer-focused palera1n jailbreak for iOS 15.x auto-updates to version 1.2.0, fixes deep sleep bug for some
With all the exciting news circulating lately in the jailbreak community, it would be easy to miss the silent update of the developer-focused jailbreak tool based on the palera1n checkm8 bootrom exploit for iOS 15.x, which appears to have received a recent and unannounced update. upgrade to version 1.2.0.
According to the project’s GitHub changelog, version 1.2.0 of Palera1n was released over the weekend, which includes the following changes from version 1.1.1, which was last released over a week ago:
– Deep sleep bug fixed – Lots of miscellaneous fixes – Allow Pogo to install tweak support
We asked the team’s developer @itsnebulalol, palera1n, to provide details about this update, namely the lack of announcement of it, and the experimental nature of the update was cited as the main reason for the silent release. It seems that while the deep sleep bug has been fixed for some people since version 1.2.0 was installed, the bug is still present for others, so the team continues to look for a more comprehensive solution.
The palera1n jailbreak itself is an experimental jailbreak, so it is intended for developers only. This is a tethered jailbreak that requires using the computer after every reboot to get back to a jailbroken state, and it’s also worth noting that while the jailbreak supports checkm8-sensitive iOS devices and iPadOS 15.0-15.7 flavors A9-A11, the tweaks only work up to iOS and iPadOS 15.3.1. Passcode and biometric authentication methods such as Face ID and Touch ID do not work on A10 or A11 devices.
At the moment Sileo is being used as the package manager for the palera1n jailbreak and Substitute is being used to implement the tweaks. Due to the way tweaks are implemented in this jailbreak, some old tweaks will work on it. The list of working tweaks is actively maintained on a separate GitHub page.
In comparison, non-rooted jailbreaks for iOS and iPadOS 15 currently under development, such as the Odyssey Team’s Cheyote, do not currently support any jailbreak settings. These settings will need to be updated to support non-rooted dynamics.
