Father Stu, the true story of a former boxer-turned-priest
American comedian Mark Wahlberg goes from boxer to ready-made father of Stu.
When an injury ends Stuart Long’s amateur boxing career, he moves to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming a star. While working as a supermarket clerk, he meets Carmen (Teresa Ruiz), a Catholic Sunday school teacher who seems oblivious to his bad boy charm. Determined to win her over, he begins going to church to impress her. But after surviving a horrific motorcycle accident, he wonders if he can use his second chance to help others find their way, leading him to realize that he is destined to become a Catholic priest. Despite a devastating illness, skepticism from church authorities and his estranged parents (Mel Gibson and Jackie Weaver), Stu courageously and compassionately continues his calling.
