Overwatch 2: How to Play Zarya (Abilities, Strategies, Tips & Tricks)
Blizzard Entertainment has finally released the sequel to Overwatch, and players are looking forward to it. While there are plenty of new players out there, Overwatch veterans are already excited to see the changes made to the characters. Many characters in Overwatch 2 are stronger than the old ones. However, whether you’re a veteran or a new player, it’s always good to get a few tips and tricks for the character you want to try out. In this guide, we will show you how you can play Zarya as a tank class in Overwatch 2. Zarya is much more than just a tank, and her full range of abilities will be very useful in combat. So let’s check out this Zara guide to get an idea of the game.
Tips and tricks for playing Zarya in Overwatch 2
While the Zarya may be a class of tanks, it is much more than that. She is close to the best Tank, if not the best. Zarya can quickly switch from defensive to offensive with her barrier and the powerful beam she fires.
And if that’s not all, Zarya’s ultimate is one of the best support moves a team can dream of. From a technical standpoint, the Zarya in Overwatch 2 is an integral part of the Tank, DPS, and support abilities.
So Zarya should definitely be the one to be ahead. While her secondary skills are great, they have a downside that you’ll have to watch out for. Zarya does not have the power characteristic of other tanks. But her other abilities are why she is one of the best.
Zarya’s abilities
Now that it’s clear that Zarya can pretty much play as a tank, fighter, or support, let’s take a look at what abilities allow her to do so in Overwatch 2:
- Partial cannon –
- Short range line beam weapon
- Energy grenade launcher
- Particle Barrier – Creates a protective barrier around you.
- Projected Barrier – Use it to create a protective barrier around your ally in danger.
- Energy – Although it is a passive ability, it increases the damage of the Cannon when your barrier absorbs enough damage.
- Gravitation Surge (Ultimate) – Launch a gravity well that will pull enemies towards it.
Now that we know her abilities, we can use the best strategies for Zarya.
Strategies for Zarya in Overwatch 2
Zarya just like a Tank would be pretty much on the bottom of the character tier list. However, her other abilities make her great for tank, fighter, and support roles. Having someone like Zarya on the team greatly enhances the team’s gameplay.
So, here are the strategies that will come in handy for Zara in Overwatch 2:
- While Zarya can’t absorb much damage, her Particle Barrier ability is enough to protect herself. But that’s not its only use, as it can also be a useful distraction tool. If timed perfectly with a DPS character on your team, Zarya can block an enemy attack while a teammate takes out the enemy.
- Further, her Particle Cannon is quite useful for offense. Once you keep using Barrier a few times, your passive ability “Energy”will make your weapon even more powerful. In close combat, these two combinations will be very useful, and of course there is a particle barrier for quick defense. The two also make Zarya a powerful fighter in Overwatch 2 should the need arise.
- Along with your own protection, the Projected Barrier allows you to help an ally in need. It works in the same way as Particle Barrier, but your ally gets the protective barrier instead of you. In a vital game situation, such small moves can lead to big results. However, make sure you are safe before trying to save someone else. Because this strategy can backfire, it should be treated with caution.
- Finally, we come to Zarya’s Ultimate ability in Overwatch 2. Gravitation Surge is a god move for any team when executed to perfection. It pulls enemies that are close to the well with gravity and puts them in the center. Almost like food on a silver platter if your attackers are ready. This is one of the best team moves and should be done in perfect coordination.
That’s it for how to play Zarya in Overwatch 2. While we’re here, make sure you don’t miss our other Overwatch 2 guides.
