OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 2 for OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro brings November security patch, system-wide optimizations and more

OnePlus is now rolling out the OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 2 update to OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users. Users who are currently participating in the first open beta will receive an OTA update to do so. The new update fixes several system-wide bugs, improves the camera and Bluetooth. The update also includes the November security patch for devices.

Open Beta 1 for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro was announced back in October and now the company is rolling out a new update and is also getting closer to a stable build. Here’s what the new update offers.

In terms of key changes, the OnePlus 9 series has received a number of new system-wide optimizations, as follows:

  • Optimized status bar display smoothness
  • Optimized battery life and charging speed
  • Fixed a low-probability issue that caused apps to not show up in the status bar.
  • Fixed an issue with a low chance of automatically turning off brightness.
  • Fixed the issue of incorrect display of some desktop widgets.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the cloud service from opening in Notes.
  • Updated Android security patch to 2021.11.
  • Improved system stability

OnePlus also says the update will improve the stability of the camera app. And finally, beta 2 will also solve the Bluetooth low probability issue. OnePlus has fixed a low-probability issue that caused the Bluetooth headphone battery to not show up in the status bar.

However, Open Beta 2 still has many known issues, and users may experience new bugs as well. In terms of known issues, OnePlus has listed a few known issues:

  • Desktop auto-rotation may be delayed in some scenes.
  • Possible Wi-Fi auto-disable issue
  • The camera freezes when shooting video in 4K/60fps mode.
  • Notifications for some apps will be turned on automatically
  • Global search may not respond
  • Background applications can be automatically disabled when using a scene with low RAM.

As stated earlier, the update will be released as an OTA for those already on Open Beta 1. With this update, OnePlus is one step closer to a stable release of Android 12.
