Paramount+ orders new Star Trek series from Starfleet Academy

Paramount is ordering a new Star Trek series. Fans will have an appointment at Starfleet Academy with the new cadet promotion.

Paramount+ has ordered a new Star Trek series set in one of the franchise’s most iconic locations. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy features a new class of recruits at the San Francisco training center. Between friendship, rivalry, first love and “a new enemy that threatens the Academy and the Federation.”Production is expected to start in early 2024.

As Picard and Discovery draw to a close, the network hopes to launch a new story for teens and young adults to bring a new generation of viewers to the license. This series “will introduce a new group of cadets working together towards a common goal, full of dreams and optimism. Under the watchful eye of their instructors, they will learn what it takes to become Starfleet officers.”

CBS Studios will produce the series in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. The casting decision has not been announced at this time. Deadline announced the series’ project launch last month ahead of Paramount’s official announcement today.

Fans will have a date at Starfleet Academy with a new class of cadets

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers, made the announcement in the voice of Starfleet Recruitment Bulletin. “For the first time in over a century, our campus will reopen to admit individuals aged 16 and over (or age equivalent) who dream of expanding their physical, mental, and spiritual capabilities, who highly value friendship, fellowship, honor, and loyalty. cause far more important than their own,” it said. “The work will be intense, the faculty will be among the most distinguished in their fields, and the accepted will live and study side by side with the most diverse student body ever accepted.”

Although the series is named after the old computer simulation game from the late 1990s, the creators have not specified if there is any connection between the two. We also don’t know what era the story will take place in out of the many centuries that Star Trek spans. Starfleet Academy features in many works in the franchise, including the original 1960s series Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (among others).
