Apple’s first augmented reality headset expected next year
Apple’s augmented reality headset may arrive next year. The first generation to work independently.
It’s no secret that Apple believes in the future of augmented reality. The Cupertino-based company has made a number of investments, more or less significant, in augmented reality technology, and there are rumors that its teams are currently working on a helmet. And this novelty may appear very soon. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s augmented reality headset will arrive at the end of 2022.
Apple’s augmented reality headset could arrive next year
Ming-Chi Kuo further says that this augmented reality headset will have two chips, one of which is based on the Apple Silicon M1 chip that the Apple brand introduced in its Macs at the end of 2020. One will be more powerful than the other. and will serve as the main processor, while another less efficient one will be used to control various aspects related to the sensors.
However, it will not be an independent augmented reality headset. So don’t expect a product like Google Glass. Instead, this first generation is more likely to be a mixed reality headset, which according to Ming-Chi Kuo will include two 4K micro-OLED screens provided by Sony that will allow the device to offer virtual reality and augmented reality.
First generation to work independently
What’s very interesting about this new note from a Taiwanese analyst is that Apple intends to make this product standalone, in other words, not dependent on other Apple products such as a Mac or iPhone. No one knows how much this helmet might cost, but it’s safe to say that it won’t be cheap. It may also be primarily aimed at developers and other professionals in the sector rather than the general public, but we’ll have to wait until next year before we know more.
