First OneUI 5.0 update based on Android 13 for Samsung phones may arrive sooner than you think

While Apple fans are freaking out over the upcoming iOS 16 software update for iPhone, Android fans are freaking out about Android 13. Google’s mobile software is official as announced in February. However, the company is limiting it to a developer beta for now. We expect the public beta to arrive sooner rather than later, probably around the same time as the Google IO 2022 conference, which is scheduled for this May. While it is not known when all OEMs will release the new OS on their multiple smartphones, a new report seems to indicate when Samsung smartphone users will be able to try Android 13 for the first time.

Samsung will reportedly release the first-ever Android 13 software update as OneUI 5.0 beta. Sammobile says this version could arrive as early as July. This will likely give the South Korean tech firm enough time to work on fixes and test Android 13 before it releases a stable version later this year.

It is worth adding that, in line with Google’s release schedule for Android 13, the software will also reach platform stability between July and August. This won’t make Samsung users feel like they’re lagging behind in terms of rollouts and updates. In addition, Samsung has greatly improved the process for deploying software and security updates. You can often see the latest security updates hit Samsung phones first every month, even earlier than the Pixel model. Last year, the company was the first to bring Android 12 to its devices, nearly 30 to 40 days after Google first rolled it out on Pixel phones.

But still, Samsung’s plans are certainly not yet confirmed. The company may also change the timing of the rollout depending on how long it takes to fix issues. The first set of phones to receive OneUI based on Android 13 could be the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4 (as and when it launches) or Flip 4. According to the list, it should also reach the Galaxy S21, S20, Galaxy series. Series A and Galaxy M. However, the report adds that before OneUI 5.0, Samsung may release OneUI 4.1.1 for its select foldable phones.
