The first Nothing smartphone could be announced next month
Nothing’s first smartphone could be formalized in April. Breath of fresh air?
As you may already know, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei left the company a few years ago to found a new one called Nothing. The company has only released one pair of true wireless earbuds to date, but it has been repeatedly suggested that it is aiming for more. Today, it looks like the brand is ready to launch its own smartphone.
The first Nothing smartphone could be issued in April
In any case, this is according to a new report from TechCrunch, which has received information from several sources that Nothing has been developing its own smartphone for more than a year and that this could be finalized sometime next month. Carl Pei has even already unveiled a prototype of the device during meetings with industry leaders at MWC 2022, which is currently underway. TechCrunch may have even seen a photo of Carl Pei with Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon.
Breath of fresh air?
The idea that Nothing could develop its own smartphone isn’t really crazy. After all, Carl Pei and OnePlus have made a name for themselves over the years, so it makes sense to try the same operation with a different vision and new products. Carl Pei also told TechCrunch last year that Nothing has a lot of products in the pipeline, and a smartphone could fit into that list.
At the moment we know next to nothing about this device, but if the formalization is due in April, then we won’t have to wait long before we know what the company has up its sleeve. We can then proceed to assess its chances in today’s complex mobile device market.
