Philips launches ultra-efficient LED bulbs promising up to 40% energy savings
Philips launches ultra-efficient LED bulbs that promise 40% energy savings and a claimed 50 year lifespan!
LED bulbs are already very energy efficient, but Signify believes it can do even better with an improved formula. The company has just released ultra-efficient LED bulbs, which, as the name suggests, promise to use up to 40% less energy compared to the brand’s other LED options. According to Signify, these “advanced”LEDs reduce the annual energy cost by 50-93 euro cents per light bulb. In comparison, a 60W Philips Ultra Definition light bulb costs about 88 cents per year.

These new light bulbs should also make it possible to limit the amount of waste. Indeed, Signify estimates that their Ultra Efficient range has an average lifespan of 50 years, more than three times longer than standard Philips LED lamps. Therefore, it is quite possible that these new lighting solutions will outlive you.
This Philips range is currently available exclusively at Walmart. Pricing starts at $10 for a 60W A19 bulb ($17 for two) in warm or cool white. The 65W BR30 lamp costs $11, while the 100W A21 option costs $15. Bulbs that are much more expensive than standard LEDs, yes – a pack of four Philips Ultra Definition 60W bulbs costs $14 – but Signify points to a lower annual energy cost and a much longer lifespan, giving you the opportunity to save money while being a bit more environmentally friendly.
with a declared service life of 50 years!
The problem here is that these bulbs are not connected. So you’ll have to deal with more consuming options if you absolutely want to use Philips Hue and don’t want to use plugged sockets. But if not, you might see your electricity bill go down a bit if you replace all the light bulbs.
