Pitaka Pita!Tag for Multitool Review: protection + utility in one
What you need to know about the Pitaka Pita!Tag Multi-Tool:
- The Pitaka Pita!Tag for the multitool is an AirTag keychain.
- It is made of stainless steel and coated with PVD.
- You also get four EDC tools at Pita!Tag.
Apple AirTags and the purpose they serve need no introduction. If you want to attach AirTags to your keychain or your bag, you will need a keychain. And while the market is flooded with hundreds of options, the Pitaka Pita!Tag is a rare accessory.
Pita!Tag is made of stainless steel and holds four tools. These tools can be worn every day, and if you don’t already carry one, you should definitely do so. I have a Pita!Tag with me and this is what I think about it.
Solid design, solid build
When shopping for accessories, users either prefer a sleek design that doesn’t add bulk to the product, or they want something strong and durable. The Pita!Tag belongs to the second category. It is bulky but provides good protection for AirTags.
Pitaka made the Pita!Tag from stainless steel and PVD coated it. The coating is present only on the AirTag case, it provides a matte finish and helps protect the product from everyday wear and tear. The build quality is great, but the weight of the product somehow reassures me that it will protect the AirTags.
Let me know in the comments below if you, as a consumer, agree with the following statement: The heavier the product, the more premium it feels.
Going back, the Pita!Tag ring has a glossy, attractive surface that is also a fingerprint magnet. Plus, it’s a snap ring so you don’t have to struggle with traditional key rings.
The mechanism for inserting AirTag into Pita!Tag is effortless and one of the best implementations I’ve seen. Glossy black flip-top lid with Pitaka logo printed on it. You need to press and click the lid to open it.
You can decide which side of the AirTag to leave open. The inside of the lid has a silicone gasket that also doubles as a suction cup to hold the AirTag in place. Small details like this matter, and Pitaka certainly pays attention to the details.
Four EDC tools in your pocket
With the design complete, let’s move on to the usefulness of the Pita!Tag. In addition to protecting and helping to carry the AirTag, what makes the Pita!Tag stand out is that it contains four tools. Yes, four small tools that I recommend you carry around with you on a regular basis.
The Pita!Tag has a slotted screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a 2.0 hex wrench and a penknife. Other tools work exceptionally well, except that the penknife is not very sharp. Again, a penknife, especially one of this size, cannot be expected to be extremely sharp, as it also becomes a safety hazard.
Is Pita!Tag a worthy partner for your AirTag?
The Pita!Tag will set you back $60, which might not be the cheapest keychain you can get for your AirTags. However, the combination of excellent build quality, attention to detail and utility provided by Pita!Tag makes this product stand out.
Plus, if you’ve always wanted to carry a pocket toolkit with you but didn’t want to add extra weight to your pockets, Pita!Tag solves that problem too. For those who wear AirTag every day, Pita!Tag keeps them safe no matter what.
Your fear of losing AirTags is also eliminated with Pita!Tag. Because AirTags will be safe and sound when dropped. They left a scratch on the tiled carpet in the office, but not on the product. So your concern is where and when you drop your Pita!Tag, not whether the AirTag will be safe inside.
