PlatinumGames: Kenichi Sato Steps Down as President

Atsushi Inaba takes over the reins of Japanese studio PlatinumGames.

Now at the head of PlatinumGames, whose projects have been piling up for several years (Sol Cresta, Babylon’s Fall, Bayonetta 3, Lost Order), Atsushi Inaba returns to the structure’s line of conduct from its inception and insists on not changing it: “Create innovative forms of play. This is the belief that PlatinumGames was founded on. This is something that will never change. Games come in all styles, for all types of people. By their very nature, they are the true expression of freedom. Thoughts freely combine to create an idea, develop it, and then play with it.

The real enjoyment of games comes from the freedom afforded to both the creator and the user, which is why I think it’s such a great form of entertainment. It has always been important to me to approach pleasure with complete sincerity. I believe that each of our employees takes pride in being an artist, always looking for the perfect balance between playfulness and professionalism. Creating an enjoyable new game starts with the creator’s ability to enjoy the game itself. The creator then has to constantly evolve their idea until they get something that communicates that feeling of pleasure to everyone who experiences it – that attention to the user makes all the difference.”

He further adds: “The main goal that drove us into self-publishing has not changed since its inception, which is to invent something new and share it with the rest of the world, demonstrating our sincerity towards creativity at every stage of creation. process. People speaking different languages, from different walks of life, brought together by a controller. The new type of game makes them smile. He connects us and sets us free. This is a job that I am extremely proud of. As we move towards the new challenges of the future, I hope to offer more and more features to all our users.”

Kenichi Sato says goodbye to PlatinumGames

After handing over the keys to Japanese studio Atsushi Inaba, former president Kenichi Sato explains his departure: “At the end of last year, I stepped down as CEO and President of PlatinumGames and assigned Vice President Atsushi Inaba to replace me. I became President of PlatinumGames in April 2016 with the goal of bringing smiles to all of our fans around the world. After establishing a partnership with Tencent in December 2019, I opened a new office in Tokyo to expand our development team, and was finally able to launch our first self-publishing initiatives, which society has long dreamed of.

Today, I believe that PlatinumGames is ready to move into more innovative forms of gaming, and therefore, more than ever, it’s time to hand over the reins to Inabe-san, who has taken the lead in developing the company’s creative products over the years. Going forward, I will continue to work with the company as a consultant, offering my assistance when needed. I would like to sincerely thank everyone for the support they have shown during my five years and eight months as President, and I hope that all of our fans will continue to support PlatinumGames under new leadership.“
