How to Change a Pokemon Nickname in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Before we dive into the topic, make sure that the nickname you entered is appropriate. This is due to the fact that using an inappropriate nickname will result in a ban. Although, here’s how to change your nickname in this game:
- During gameplay, press the X button on your controller to open the menu.
- Next, press the A button to select your current Pokémon and highlight it.
- Now click “Check Summary”and press the X button to change the nickname in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
- Enter the desired name and click “OK”to rename the Pokémon.
Also note that you can only change the name of the Pokémon on your team. This means that all Pokémon in your boxes cannot be renamed until you move any of them to your team. Also, it is not possible to rename a Pokémon that you have traded and have already received a nickname. However, you can only rename it once, unless the previous trainer gave a nickname to the exchanged Pokémon. Last but not least, the nicknames of all Pokemon obtained from Mystery Boxes cannot be changed in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
