Alleged Realme GT 2 foldable design sketches leaked online reveal key specs, Realme CMO teases 2022 foldable launch

Earlier this year, Realme announced that it would enter the ultra-premium smartphone category with a device priced above $800. The company is expected to introduce this device next year. It looks like Realme may soon enter another new category in 2022. The company may launch its first foldable smartphone next year. Realme has already announced the launch of foldable smartphones and an under-display front camera in devices. Ahead of the launch, sketches of the alleged Realme GT 2 Fold have leaked online. Let’s take a look at the upcoming Realme GT 2 Fold design, features and other details that have been leaked.

Realme GT 2 Fold design

Realme has not confirmed the launch schedule for its first foldable smartphone. While we’re waiting for it, the design of the GT 2 Fold has been leaked. Leaked design sketches (via 91Mobiles) of Realme’s first foldable smartphone reveal that the folding mechanism could be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

According to the sketches, the GT 2 Fold will have an 8-inch folding screen. There will be a hole punch cutout in the upper right corner of the AMOLED display. No word yet on refresh rate support. However, we can expect the Realme foldable smartphone to have a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.

Outside is a tall 6.5-inch AMOLED display. This one too has a hole punch cutout in the top right corner. Realme may be playing it safe and not releasing the GT 2 Fold with an under-screen camera, given that this is the company’s first foldable model. In addition to this, under-screen camera technology is still evolving and does not provide high quality images.

A dual camera will be installed on the rear camera of the device. It will have two 50-megapixel camera sensors, which are likely designed for shooting wide and ultra-wide images. The device will also likely have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C port. The rest of the details of the device remain secret. We will share more details as they become available.
