Apple’s Upcoming 2023 New Products: The Complete Guide
Apple fans are always intrigued when the company teases new devices. Apple has a penchant for teasing fans with new technological innovations ranging from the latest iPhone to possible new categories. That’s why compiling a list of new Apple products coming in 2023 can take a long time. Let’s take a look at some of Apple’s most anticipated new releases!
1. 15″MacBook Air
Earlier this year, Apple released the 13.6-inch MacBook Air M2. This new version of the popular MacBook features a new design and is powered by the latest M2 chipset. While the dust is still settling around this new MacBook Air, it looks like Apple is set to launch a 15-inch MacBook Air in the spring of 2023. This is the first case for the MacBook Air as it was never released with a 15-inch screen.
What’s more, this new MacBook Air will likely include a healthy upgrade over the first higher-clocked M2 chip. The chances of this MacBook Air being released are very significant, as it has been reported that Apple wants to expand consumer choice in the laptop segment. However, no one is sure yet whether this MacBook Air will be able to replace the 13-inch MacBook Air. Either way, the price of this laptop can be very high, starting at $1,799.
2. iPhone 15 Ultra
After the surprise release of the Apple Watch Ultra, there is a lot of talk that Apple is working on an Ultra model for the upcoming iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 15 Ultra was previously seen as a replacement for the Pro Max model. However, it looks like the new phone will replace the iPhone Plus series.
Given the major upgrades the Apple Watch Ultra has received over other smartwatches in the Apple Watch Series 8 lineup, the iPhone 15 Ultra looks set to receive a similar level of upgrade. Industry insider Mark Gurman reveals that all iPhone 15 models will get Dynamic Island, while the Ultra model could have a 6.7-inch screen.
In terms of design, the iPhone 15 Ultra could also have a titanium alloy body and replace the port with a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. In addition, according to rumors, a periscope lens will be added to the overall ensemble. We can also expect significant upgrades in the general camera department, although this was just speculation at the time of writing.
Apple may introduce the new A17 Bionic chipset for the processor in the Ultra model, while other iPhone 15 models use the upgraded A16 chipset. Of course, the iPhone 15 Ultra is expected to work with the upcoming iOS 17. In addition, there is very little confirmed information about the phone itself.
3. Apple Watch Series 9
As for the Apple Watch series, the tech giant has been releasing a new line of smartwatches every year since 2015. This doesn’t seem to change in 2023, so we can expect an Apple Watch Series 9 this year without any reservations.
However, we’re not quite sure about the specs of the new Apple Watch line yet. Of course, there’s a good chance that Apple will add the S9 chipset to this new smartwatch. It’s worth bearing in mind that the difference in performance between the S7 and S8 chipsets is small. So, this could be the trend that is in the Apple Watch Series 9.
There are also rumors that the Series 9 could have MicroLED panels, but this major change could take longer than expected. At the very least, these new panels could be featured in the next Apple Watch Ultra. Also, we don’t expect Apple to make drastic changes to health monitors and sensors. Instead, they could improve the capabilities of the sensors.
It almost goes without saying that Apple Watch Series 9 will also debut the new WatchOS 10. This will bring small but useful and interesting changes to the new Apple Watch line. We may have to wait until WWDC in June to find out more about upcoming Apple products in 2023, including the Apple Watch Series 9!
4. AirPods Max 2
The first generation of AirPods Max was released at the end of 2020. Since then, there has been practically no information about the new version of the popular headphones. Can we see new AirPods Max in 2023?
The biggest reason for the speculation around the new AirPods Max is the AirPods Pro 2. The latter features great technologies like Adaptive Transparency, an IPX4 rating, and a U1 chipset. The AirPods Max 1 lacks all of these new features.
For now, the only credible rumors surrounding the AirPods Max 2 are the introduction of USB-C to the new earbuds and that it could come in two flavors. The first option will be cheaper and focused on a more athletic audience. As for the second model, Apple may be targeting premium consumers.
Since there is almost no information about the next generation of AirPods Max, we will have to take all these assumptions with a grain of salt. At the very least, you can expect the AirPods Max 2 to take on all the features of the AirPods Pro 2 and possibly have more advanced variants of the same technology.
5. Reality Pro Headset
Apple could expand its products into a new category with a mixed reality headset called Reality Pro. If this product comes out in 2023, it will cost between $2,000 and $3,000. There are good reasons for such an exorbitant price. The Reality Pro headset should be the most advanced headset of its kind.
The Reality Pro headset will not only have an M2 chip (the same one that is inside the Mac), but more than 10 cameras both inside and outside the headset. In addition, the high-resolution displays on the headset will be best in class. Like any other Apple device, the headset will have its own operating system, dubbed realityOS.
With this device, Apple may want to create a virtual world similar to the Metaverse. However, little is known about the device yet.
6.iMac with M3
While the iMac didn’t last long, thanks to the arrival of Mac Studio, people are still hoping for a new iMac. There’s even some news from industry insiders that Apple is working on a new iMac with the M3 chipset. However, we’re not sure if this will be a continuation of the 24-inch iMac or a new model altogether.
In any discussion of the iMac with the M3, the conversation, of course, will also be directed towards the M3. However, Apple is currently busy strengthening its position with models such as the M2, M2 Pro, and even the M1 Ultra. If the M3 chip is being worked on, you can be sure that it will have a 3nm architecture. Moreover, M3 chips can be available in three flavors – Ibiza, Palma and Lobos.
If we see an M3 chip, it will be the first in the MacBook lineup. Only then could it be added to the new iMac.
7. Apple Silicon Mac Pro
Considering the leaps Apple has made with its M-series chipsets, the currently available Mac Pro looks pretty dated. This is mainly due to the fact that the Mac Pro still uses an Intel chipset. So we are guaranteed to see a new Mac Pro with an M2 or M3 chipset. However, developing a line of desktop computers is much more difficult than a MacBook. Expect a bit of a delay with the arrival of the new Mac Pro.
It’s also highly likely that despite the gap in releases, Apple won’t be redesigning the Mac Pro. Instead, they will focus on refining the internals to provide a powerful and smooth user experience. As these desktops compete with Intel workstations, the new Mac Pro is rumored to feature the M2 Ultra or M2 Extreme chipset.
Be that as it may, the new Mac Pro seems to break all records in terms of features and price!
8. 14-inch iPad Pro
It hasn’t been long since Apple released the new iPad Pro with the M2 chipset and ProRes video recording capabilities. However, these features are available on the proven 12.9-inch display. Rumor has it that Apple is testing 14-inch iPad Pros at its facilities. The main purpose of this increase in display size is to blur the line between using a tablet and a laptop.
However, there are some problems with this idea. First, Apple frequently changes its existing products to see if these minor changes help the user experience. Most often they do not materialize in a commercial sense. Secondly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is already quite expensive. A big screen can hit the budget so hard that most people won’t care. Third, smaller versions of the iPad continue to be successful.
With all these factors that Apple has to consider, the 14-inch iPad Pro may not see the light of day. At least not in the near future. If we see an iPad Pro with a bigger screen, expect the product to be ultra-premium.
Products released so far in 2023
While we can expect many new Apple products in 2023, several new Apple products have already been released. They range from the new MacBook Pro with an M2 processor to the 2nd generation HomePod. Let’s take a closer look at these innovations, shall we?
Macbook Pro 2023
Although both 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M2 chips were released in mid-2022, Apple has decided to release newer models with updated M2 chipsets. So, the new MacBook Pro models are equipped with the latest M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, boosting their processing power to unimaginable levels.
The company’s press release claims that these new MacBook Pros deliver over 6 times the performance of the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pros. That’s not all – for professional video and audio editing, as well as graphics-intensive projects, 96 GB of combined memory should be enough. These new MacBook Pro models also support 8K video up to 60Hz and 4K video up to 240Hz.
Finally, Apple also said that this new version of the MacBook Pro will have the longest battery life ever on a MacBook. It’s a true engineering marvel given the raw processing power provided by the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. All in all, this is a great addition for professionals who want the perfect laptop without sacrificing portability or style!
HomePod (2nd generation)
Alexa devices from Amazon have become the most popular smart home devices. Given their popularity, it made sense for Apple to bring back the HomePod. The first ever HomePod was released in early 2018, and while it had its fans, the product wasn’t as successful as Apple had hoped.
However, the Californian tech giant has finally unveiled the 2nd generation HomePod, with perfect integration with other Apple smart devices and a chance to topple Amazon Alexa. This new HomePod features an iconic new design that exudes elegance and minimalism.
The capabilities of Siri HomePod have also been expanded. Apple says you can integrate smart home automation with Siri HomePod, making some decent changes to a brilliant home experience. It also includes home security improvements such as smoke detector detection and hands-free temperature/humidity checks.
This new HomePod comes with an Apple S7 chipset, 20mm speakers, five tweeters, and built-in microphones with bass EQ. According to Apple, the chipset’s capabilities allow it to understand room acoustics through room recognition technology and advanced computational audio. This will ultimately result in a superior sound experience, no matter what genre of music you’re listening to.
Mac Mini
Since Apple introduced the first Mac Mini in 2005, there have been several iterations of the device in circulation. However, consumers yearned for a new model with the latest chipsets and Apple innovations. The company listened, and now we have the latest Mac Mini with M2 and M2 Pro chipsets. This makes the new version of Mac Mini the most powerful and advanced.
The design of the device remains as compact as ever, implementing the M2 chipset in the smallest possible design. You’ll also find a few new additions such as improved connectivity, more unified memory, and support for two to three displays depending on the chipset.
You can combine this device with Apple Magic and Apple Studio Display accessories to create the ultimate desktop experience. Device integration is also facilitated by the perfect compatibility offered by macOS Ventura.
With all of these innovations working in tandem, you can be more productive in everything you do. Whether you’re using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, or playing games like Resident Evil Village, the new M2 Mac Mini delivers exceptional performance compared to a Mac Mini with an M1 chipset!
Final Thoughts
This completes our list of new Apple products coming in 2023. Please be aware that most of these products are based on rumors from industry insiders and have not been confirmed by Apple in an official statement. However, this is an exciting group of products and I think we as consumers would love to see them materialize!
