Apple in 2022: Fall Edition
With so many predictions surrounding the Far Out event turned out to be true, from pill-shaped notch to satellite communications, rumors surrounding the October event hold great promise.
However, not everything you hear takes form. Therefore, we have taken the opinions of well-known analysts and experts to give you an idea of what is possible. Check out all the new Apple products to be announced in 2022:
1. iPad 10th generation with USB-C
After 11 years of the same old design, this could be the year Apple released the redesigned iPad! According to Mark Gurman, Apple Leaker’s trusted spokesperson, the base iPad model is getting the biggest update yet.
Codenamed J272, it may feature a USB-C port and a slight increase in screen size from 10.5 to 10.9. There is talk of a fully laminated display, but I won’t bet on that.
2. iPad Pro 2022 with M2 chip
While people are hesitant about using M1 chips in the iPad, Apple is adamant in its quest to move forward. According to the latest rumors, an iPad Pro update is expected with an even more powerful M2 chip.
But it’s not. There is also an unusual rumor about the inclusion of MagSafe wireless charging. Notably, a limited iPhone/Mac feature will now be included in the new iPad side smart connector.
3. Macbook Pro 2022 with M2
Interesting news from DigiTimes confirms the launch of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and hints at the possibility of an October event.
According to their report, the Apple Mac supply chain is slowing production of existing Macs and preparing to ship new MacBook Pros. These new devices are expected to feature the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
For those who are expecting that Apple might bring back the touch bar with the 2022 Macbook Pro, I’m sorry it won’t happen. This new MacBook Pro will feature a thinner design, identical bezels, and an all-black keyboard. Thus eliminating the touchpad.
Additionally, Mark Gurman said the new model will have a “smaller”display than current higher-end models, without “ProMotion and mini-LED.”This means it will feature the standard Retina display used in the current 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Like every other MacBook Pro, we can expect it to be available in Silver and Space Gray.
4. Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro chips
Apple continues to manufacture and sell Mac mini configurations with Intel processors at such a high price. However, this may change after the October event.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the fall lineup could include an updated Mac mini with two of the most advanced chips, the M2 and M2 Pro chips.
The 2022 Mac mini will be smaller and thinner, according to renderings by Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record. It will also have a plexiglass top that sits on an aluminum body and a magnetic charging connector.

The 2022 Mac mini is expected to support up to 64GB of RAM, up from the 16GB limit for the current generation M1 Mac mini.
Additionally, the “Mac mini”could have a two-tone design and come in space gray, silver, and other colors similar to the 24-inch iMac. It would be very interesting to see the mini in these colors! The device can also have 4 Thunderbolt ports, 2 USB-A ports, 1 HDMI port, and 1 Ethernet port.
5. M2 Mac Pro tower – finally!
Ever since Apple teased its Mac Pro at last year’s fall event, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the device. However, almost a year later, we are hanging on the threads of rumors.
I hope, and maybe finally, Apple will show (if not release) the Mac Pro Tower case. However, the tower will be equipped with an M2 Ultra or M2 Extreme chip. That would be an interesting event and even more interesting graphics!
The Apple Silicon variant will be half the size of the current Mac Pro and have a similar design to the Power Mac G4 Cube.

Apple products expected to arrive in the future
“Innovation distinguishes the leader from the follower.”
Steve Jobs correctly said the above line. Staying true to its ideology, Apple manages to think ahead and work on products ahead of the curve. These are a few products that have been in development for a couple of years now and are expected to launch in the coming years.
1. AR/VR headset
Now, this is one product we’ve been waiting for too long. And although there are rumors that it will be announced in the October event, I will leave it in this section until I see it. After all these no-shows, it’s only fair!
Bloomberg first reported in 2017 that Apple plans to release its AR headset sometime in 2020. That same year, the Financial Times speculated that Apple was planning to release its AR glasses with 3D cameras.
In 2019, Apple confirmed that it was working on “some”augmented reality device, fueling the rumors. Kuo believes that augmented reality glasses will depend heavily on the iPhone, just like the first generation Apple Watch.
Apple is probably working on lightening the weight of the glasses because they shouldn’t weigh more than standard glasses but should be able to drive hardware with the same weight.
In previous years, Apple has filed many patents claiming new technologies to provide virtual 3D views of the user environment with virtual content. While I’m relying on the general idea of augmented reality glasses as their future device, given Apple’s innovative heights, this could be a new device overall.
2. Big iMac
Following the release of the 24-inch iMac, Apple is now rumored to be working on a larger iMac that is expected to have a display size of 27 to 32 inches with a mini LED display. The screen is expected to have thinner bezels and may support XDR and Promotion.
In addition to the larger display, the new iMac is expected to feature a top-end M1 chip like the M1 Pro or M1 Max, or any chip from the upcoming M2 series. But rumors suggest we won’t see it until 2023!
3. Apple car
Apple announced autonomous cars in 2015. Since then we have heard many rumors about it. These autonomous vehicles are expected to be battery-powered electric vehicles and may even be powered by solar power.
Apple will likely partner with Hyundai to produce these vehicles by 2024 and bring them to market by 2030. However, Apple requested permission to test 200 vehicles in 2017 in California called Project Titan.
Apple Cars looks promising and supports Apple’s plans to be carbon neutral by 2030. I especially admire one rumor about using Apple IDs as car keys. The car also claims to be equipped with the infamous LiDAR scanners.
4. Foldable iPhones
In the next two years, Apple plans to release a foldable iPhone with two screens connected by a hinge. Despite the hinge, the iPhone looks flawless and doesn’t look like two connected screens.
Taiwan’s Economic Daily News website also claimed that two of these models had previously been tested for durability at Foxconn’s Shenzhen, China plant.
In addition, there are rumors that Apple is also working on a foldable Macbook. But at the moment, we don’t have much information about any of Apple’s foldable devices.

6. Chip M1 Ultra
When everyone thought that Apple had already surprised the industry with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets, Apple shocked the industry even more with the introduction of the M1 Ultra chip, unveiled with Mac Studio at the Peek Performance event held on March 8th.
7. Mac Studio
Apple launched Mac Studio at the Peek Performance event on March 8th. Mac Studio is available on the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips, depending on which variant you buy.
8. Studio Display
Many consider the Studio Display to be a budget replacement for the Pro Display XDR. The studio display features a 5k resolution display based on the A13 chip and a 12-megapixel camera in the center of the stage. If you are also confused between these two, you need to check our comparison on the same one.
