Google Pixel 6a launch timeline provided; Pixel Watch likely to debut at Google I/O 2022
Google has confirmed Google I/O dates for 2022. The company will hold its annual developer event on May 11-12 this year. At the event, we can see the new Android 13 features coming to Pixel smartphones and other devices later this year. At the same event, Google may also unveil the Pixel 6a as a more affordable Pixel smartphone.
Tipster Jon Prosser claims that the Pixel 6a could be announced at Google I/O 2022. However, the device may be available in some regions starting in July. Let’s take a look at the Google Pixel 6a launch schedule, specifications and other details.
Google Pixel 6a launch dates hinted
Google may announce the new Pixel 6a at I/O 2022 on May 11th. The device will be the successor to last year’s Pixel 5a. While the phone will be announced at I/O 2022, Google will make it available in select regions starting July 28th. At this event, Google will also be teasing the launch of the Pixel Watch, which will be announced alongside the Pixel 7 series in October 2022.
Some key details of 6a have been leaked in the past. The smartphone is reportedly codenamed Bluejay. It will come in three colors – white, black and green. The phone is said to have a 6.2-inch display. The device will feature an OLED screen and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
A recent Geekbench listing revealed that the 6a will ship with a Tensor SoC. It will have two Arm Cortex-X1 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.8GHz. There will also be two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.25GHz. Finally, there will be four efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz. for graphics there will be a Mali-G78 GPU. A listing on Geekbench revealed that the 6a will ship with at least 6GB of RAM. It will run Android 12 out of the box.
Other leaked details include a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. More details should appear online in the coming days.
