Along with many new changes, the heist mode is finally coming to the third season of WZ2. But what other changes can we expect? So, check out the patch notes below to find out what’s new in the upcoming third season.
Warzone 2 Season 3 Patch Notes
Get your duet
Gunfight returns with four maps including the new Warzone 2.0 Gulag Blacksite and fan-favorite Shipment. Get ready to prove that you are part of the dominant duo.
Three 6v6 maps, two combat map locations
Head to Spain for the new Pelayo Lighthouse map, dive into the darkness with the Black Gold night map, and stay tuned for a new main map that will complement the three new multiplayer locations at the end of this season. Also: two new combat maps for Ground War and Invasion.
New special operations
Later in the season, weather waves of enemy reinforcements in Defender: Hafid Port Special Ops; then prepare for a new raid episode.
Return of gunfights for MWII, new maps
- Small teams, multi-round cage matches. The first duo to reach the win limit wins.
- A modern classic from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and a precursor to Call of Duty: Warzone versus the Gulag, Gunfight is a four-player, duo versus duo game mode where random loadouts and cage match-style small maps dictate tactical and fast-paced combat.
For those unfamiliar with this mode, each round, two duos spawn on either side of the map with the same random gear. A duo wins a round when they reduce the opposing duo’s health to zero or, if this is not done before the round timer expires, the first duo to capture the overtime flag in the center of the map wins. A tie can occur if duos are of equal health and the overtime flag is not fixed at the end of a round’s overtime period, at which point both pairs receive a “round win”for scoring. The first duo to win six rounds wins the match.
Here you will find a partner and fight against a duo of opponents:
Introduction to map rotation
- Alley: Somewhere in the Al Mazra area, a small market is being cleared as strike teams prepare to enter, with hot weapons.
- Black site:
- A training ground for operatives wishing to return to the war zone. His whereabouts are classified.
- Find out more about this new map, which also serves as Warzone 2.0’s new Gulag for Al Mazra, elsewhere on this announcement blog.
- Shipment: OG since 2007; Get your sea legs as soon as the timer hits zero so you don’t get thrown overboard.
- Exhibit: Also, another Gunfight location among the four main locations at launch.
Gunfight OSP will be available in regular playlist updates (in season)
In addition to the standard Gunfight mode, a variant of the Gunfight OSP mode (available during the season) will be available throughout the season as part of regular playlist updates.
- OSP stands for On-Site Procurement, which defines this variant of the traditional mode.
- Players will have to collect weapons and equipment scattered around the map instead of getting random equipment every round.
- This makes quick movement and coordination even more important to success when playing this variant of the mode.
Three new main maps, two combat maps (starter and season)
New locations, familiar combat maps, and Modern Warfare II’s first nighttime infiltration resulted in a strong mix of additions to the game’s multiplayer map set:
Pelayo Lighthouse (main map, launch)
When the rain hits the rocks of this small rocky island, the lighthouse helps passing ships navigate at night. However, nearby shipwrecks speak to the great dangers associated with sailing in the rocky seas.
Black Gold (basemap, launch)
Based on the Rohan Oil section of Al Mazra, this base map will be the first iteration of Night Ops in Modern Warfare II. Operators will need to use their night vision goggles, equip thermal imaging optics, or use available light sources to their advantage to secure victory at this critical strategic location.
Rohan Oil (Combat, Launch)
An expansion of the main map, Rohan Oil expands the combat arena at this Warzone 2.0 point of interest and transitions into daylight, allowing a large number of air and ground vehicles to zip past refinery bunkers towards targets.
Sattik cave complex (combat map, launch)
South of the Rohan oil, the Sattik cave complex is an interesting combination of verticality, small building skirmishes, and internal battles through its intricate network of caves. Pay attention to the downed aircraft and its surrounding area; this may be familiar to franchise veterans….
Alboran Hatchery (main map, season)
Also, stay tuned for another brand new main card that will be released in the middle of the season.
Modes coming to MWII:
- Cranked
- no face
- HB infected
Along with fan-favorite playlists and rotations featuring new Season 03 maps, you can expect some returning modes to make their way into weekly playlist updates:
Cranked (launch)
First seen in Call of Duty: Ghosts and most recently as part of Modern Warfare (2019) and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Cranked takes on Team Deathmatch and ramps up the intensity, setting a countdown for any Operator that earns an elimination. If they cannot earn another elimination before the timer reaches zero, they will die prematurely from the explosion.
Since you will feel the pressure associated with the elimination streaks, your operator is likely to get the effects of fast hands and double time bonuses while cranking. In addition, Cranked eliminations count more – in a standard game up to 150 points, the first elimination in each life will be awarded 1 point, and for each elimination earned in Cranked, 2 points.
Face to face (in season)
Also returning is Face Off, the classic small-team mode originally from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 and recently returned in Modern Warfare (2019) as a 3v3 mode that will arrive sometime in the middle of the season update.
GW infested (in season)
Everything you loved about Infected is now on the big battle map.
Fight your fellow survivors – if you weren’t chosen as the first Infected – to last as long as possible in what should be total chaos. It might be easier to earn a legendary killstreak in this mode, though it may take a lot of skill and maybe a bit of luck for the survivors to unleash the incredible explosive ending…. .
New Ranked Multiplayer Rewards
Ranked players and Call of Duty League challengers will receive brand new rewards to earn at the start of Season 03. Here are the details of the new rewards for winning Season 03 Ranked matches:
- Win 5 Ranked Matches: Season 03 Member Decal
- Win 10 ranked matches: Pro Issue TAQ-56 Weapon Blueprint
- Win 25 Ranked Matches: Best Dog Weapon Charm.
- Win 50 Ranked Matches: Tippable Gun Vinyl
- Win 75 Ranked Matches: Ranked Season 03 Loading Screen
- Win 100 Ranked Matches: Ranked Season 03 Veteran Camouflage
Players also have a chance to earn skins and cosmetic items for higher-level Skill Division Operators for ranking high in the season in the Gold Division or higher, as well as special rewards for the top 250 players and #1 players in the world at the end of the season. This means that if you didn’t have a chance to earn the Crimson Ranked Mode Operator Skin Pack, now you have a chance to get these hoodies!
And remember: Ranked play rewards are earned based on your best rank, so don’t worry if you hit Crimson just to get back to your rightful place in Gold. Also, expect all Season 02 Ranked Play rewards to be available at the start of Season 03.
Expected mid-season: new main map, special operation, raid, episode 03.
As mentioned earlier, a new main map will be available as part of an update midway through Season 03, but that’s not the only offering this update will bring. Midway through the season, Special Ops will see a major content update in the form of a new mission and a new raid episode. In this new mission, the Operatives will take on the Las Almas cartel somewhere in Al Masra in an all-out fight for survival and be sure to help you increase your Special Forces Stars.
Along with this new mission, the Mid-Season Update will include the next exciting episode of the Raid, which sees the operatives continue the story of Task Force 141 after the events of the Modern Warfare II campaign, and will be released with the Mid-Season Update 03 season. Play the first two episodes of the raid now to learn the story before the mid-season update!
Warzone Overview 2.0
- Mass revival of Eminent. At launch, up to 150 players can enter Resurgence through Al Mazra. Expect chaos (and lots of experience)!
- Get ready to rob again. The Respawnable Team Cash Rush returns in Season 03. It’s time to level up your gear and get rich – or die trying.
- Lots of additional new features in the season. Drone redeployment reaches El Mazra
- Protect yourself with hardened body armor
- Get ability packs (in season), UAV turrets coming to Battle Royale, and more.
- DMZ goes to a new level. You can bring and buy items using the new barter system.
- Pick up a new contract and additional missions from the new REMOVED faction; Use the smuggling workbench before fighting two new bosses and jumping down to [[REDACTED]].
- Ranked games will appear in the middle of the season. The long-awaited experience will be a testing ground for all Warzone members.
Still itching for some competition? Try yourself in the World Series of Warzone in mid-April!
Revival comes to Al-Mazra (Revival Revival)
- Fans of the action-packed Rebirth mode will be looking forward to the new version of Rebirth, in addition to keeping Ashika Island as a game mode option.
- Called Massive Resurgence, this new version is the Resurgence mode on the larger Al Mazrah map.
- The number of players will be increased to match Al Masra, so get ready to take on dozens of duos or squads of other sizes, depending on the weekly playlist offer.
The booty arrives in season
- Warzone 2.0 adds a mode that was launched in the original Call of Duty: Warzone just over three years ago: Plunder, scheduled to launch in Season 03.
- For those who haven’t experienced this fun and crazy mode yet, Plunder is a squad vs squad respawn mode where the team with the most money wins.
- Money can be earned by killing players and collecting their valuables, collecting supply crates and loose money, or completing contracts and in-game events.
- Operators can use their kits immediately after the first reset, and if excluded, they will be reallocated at a reduced percentage of current cash.
- As you prepare for Ranked Play and continue to prove your mettle in Battle Royale, focusing on loot is a great way to practice with your gear before moving on to competitive matches.
- Because most of the core gameplay mechanics, including health and armor, are the same in Plunder and other Warzone 2.0 modes.
- This mode is a great opportunity to test out some gear or level up new weapons like the one coming this season.
New Gulag in Al-Mazra
- Get your final duels in Warzone 2.0’s first Gulag now, because in Season 03 the eliminated Operators will enter the new Gulag in Al-Mazra (unless it’s closed due to match time).
- This is known as Blacksite, which is separate from Black Site, the super stronghold that appears in Battle Royale.
- A training ground for operatives wishing to return to the war zone, this roughly rectangular, asymmetric map features several interior spaces and long exterior routes.
- The current location of this Blacksite Gulag is [[REDACTED]].
- Owners of Modern Warfare II can get some practice in Blacksite and learn its routes by playing Gunfight or participating in a private match.
New and returning features in Battle Royale
Customize your personal meta accordingly: Warzone 2.0 is getting some new features across all of its Battle Royale modes, as well as Massive Resurgence and Plunder, which will be detailed in our Tactical Review Blog ahead of the season’s launch.
Drone redeployment in Al-Mazra (launch)
- Flying in from Asika Island, the drone relocation will provide a quick way to get around the map outside of the train and a wide range of air, sea and land vehicles.
- These drones work just like the ones available on Asika Island, so get used to them by playing Resurgence or Mini Royale modes before they rain down on Al Mazra.
Hardened body armor (launch)
- Another feature of the Caldera, hardened armadillos, changes how your operator handles armor plates.
- With Hardened Body Armor equipped, your armor will consist of two half-bars instead of three-thirds, making it easier and more efficient to replace plates after one (or both) is cracked.
UAV towers (launch)
- UAV turrets, first seen in the DMZ, are vital stationary sources that can be activated during a match to give you information about your enemy’s position.
- After interacting with the turret’s on-board computer, the Operator and his allies will receive several circular sweeps of the UAV from the turret’s location for several tens of meters.
- A small warning for those who are ready to attack every tower on the map: operators will receive an audio notification when the UAV tower is activated, and the icon of active towers will be displayed in red on the tactical map and in the world.
More coming mid-season, including decontamination stations
In addition to the above, expect even more new and returning features and items to come to Warzone 2.0 as part of the midseason update, including the Decontamination Station. Those who have spent any time in the Caldera know the power of this lifesaving field upgrade, which creates a bubble of safe air to protect Operators from the collapse of the poison circle.
Once you find a decontamination station in the wild, you can place it just about anywhere. It lasts a few seconds, which can be the difference between surviving the final round and giving in to him.
Perk Set Items (in season)
Another addition to the Season 03 loot pool is the preloaded Perk Pack found in Supply Crates. Special, less rare perk packs are available at buy stations. Based on perk packs from Season 01 and Season 02, these items are incredibly valuable given their passive benefits, helping Warzone operators who refuse to receive a loadout be at the same level as those who do. Alternatively, these perk sets can make the early game more interesting, especially for those who guard territories, collect cash, and reap the rewards of scavenging the map.
Deployable Buy Station (Seasonal)
Continuing the list of returns is the Deployable Buy Station, a limited-stock portable version of the Buy Station. The deployable Buy Station is especially useful in the deserts of Buy Station – although there will be more of them in Battle Royale in general – or in the last few circles it collapses. The Buy Station allows you to spend your remaining money on some potentially game-changing items.
Gulag entrance kit (in season)
The last (literally) small item with huge potential impact is the Gulag Entry Kit. Those who find it in a Battle Royale match and die after their initial visit to the Gulag can re-engage through the Gulag. This means that those who know they can grab it 1v1 have another chance to get redeployed without asking their squad mates for it.
- DMZ Overhaul Includes Barter System, Workbench, and More
- Operators, get ready for one of the biggest DMZ updates ever.
- barter system
One of the biggest additions since the launch of the DMZ is the barter system, a way to reward operators who stock up on items and can make it to a buy station to trade them for other valuables.
In general, the Merchant may not have what you want, but he will always have what you need. There is no peer-to-peer trading in this system, but of course you can still trade items during a match with friendly operators (especially those who run taxi services, as we have heard they are incredibly useful).
Crafting table
Another important addition to the DMZ is the workbench, which can be found near the buy stations and allows you to modify contraband weapons.
- For a nominal monetary fee, the Workbench allows the Operator to add attachments they have unlocked for the Contraband weapon platform to a portion of the Contraband or remove them piecemeal.
- Useful in cases where a 5.5x scope isn’t good enough for a fast-firing SMG, or when a sniper rifle needs an extended magazine, the workbench will be another way to spend that hard-earned cash on something effective for that penetration and more.
Active Duty operator slots
In Season 03, you won’t only have one Operator to sneak into restricted areas.
- Each player will start with three Active Duty Operator slots, which is the equivalent of having three separate Operators who have their own soldier items.
- These items include your backpack, body armor, killstreak, self-repair, and a gas mask.
- For each infiltration, you can choose which Active Duty operator you bring in, meaning you can calculate the risk for any missions you want to complete or the type of experience you want for that match.
- For example, you could have one active operative saved for main story missions and building 21 runs, stacked with a 3-plate carrier, self-healing kit, etc., and then another created to pick up items with nothing. but One-Plate Carrier in their name.
New faction
An unknown faction, REDACTED, will appear in Season 03 and will have three mission tiers at launch, plus two more in the season.
- New and changed missions, contract
- For the upcoming season, Infinity Ward is introducing a new set of faction missions as well as a new contract:
This is a Secure Supply Contract that marks containers in the Exclusion Zone with the necessary equipment for this experience. This is a great way to set up your Operator after a previous DMZ break-in that you couldn’t extract from.
New bosses
Operators must be prepared to face new threats in the various exclusion zones, as there are not one, but two bosses that intelligence suggests are [[REDACTED]]. Intelligence also suggests that [[REDACTED]] is located deep underground in Al-Mazra. We have a lot more to share as part of a special DMZ blog that will be released before the launch of Season 03, including new types of backpacks and body armor.
The Warzone World Series returns in 2023
More competition, more prizes, more regions and the first ever in-person global final. The Warzone 2023 World Series is poised to expand into new regions and host an endgame you won’t want to miss. - Prepare for long-term interventions. The legendary sniper rifle is back – react accordingly. It joins the brand new Battle Rifle in the Battle Pass, as well as other weapons coming in the season.

Rivals Alejandro and Valeria Highlight Battle Pass, New Operator Roster
From Mexican Special Forces to real-life adversaries, Alejandro and Valeria have sat on the sidelines for quite some time after the Campaign and are ready to return to action in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
Alejandro Vargas
Born and raised in Las Almas, Alejandro spent over a decade as a high-ranking member of Los Fuerzeas Especiales, the Mexican Army’s Tier 1 Counter-Terrorist Special Forces unit. His unit, Los Vaqueros, is the only unit in the country authorized to work alongside international special operations forces, including the CIA’s Chief of Station Keith Laswell.
In the course of the Modern Warfare II campaign, you will learn how dedicated Alejandro is to protecting the innocent and his quest to destroy those who rebel against their country for the sake of ill-gotten gain. As his squad mates say: “The only thing that can kill Alejandro is Alejandro. .. “.
Valeria Garza
Warning! Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t played the Modern Warfare II campaign.
A former Mexican army commando who used to work alongside Alejandro, Valeria defected to the cartels in 2014 and eventually rose to power as the leader of the Las Almas cartel. Also known as El Sin Nombre and her true identity unknown to most in the Modern Warfare II universe, Valeria is a ruthless and cunning Operator who is not afraid to get her hands dirty and is always calm under intense pressure. This can be seen throughout Modern Warfare II’s campaign, where after her events and her escape from the control of Task Force 141, she carefully considers her next move.
Whether it’s interrogating enemies or taking the first shot in a gunfight, Valeria wins the loyalty of cartel members every day with her incredible determination and ability to plan ahead like a true criminal genius, all the while recruiting new ones into her ranks with generous donations. from the cartel’s treasury. Having overcome hardships due to the way she was treated early in her military career, Valeria is now one of the most formidable and experienced operatives in the world, ready to take on any important task she wants to do herself and not her subordinates.
Season 03 will have more operatives
These fierce rivals aren’t the only operatives to make an appearance in Season 3. Stay tuned for more information on several Operators that will be buffing KorTak and SpecGra this season and beyond.
New Sniper Leading Combat Shotgun Season 03: Weapon Additions
Few weapons in Call of Duty history evoke the feeling a new sniper rifle gives franchise veterans – and perhaps the other new weapons this season will become legends in their own right.
FJX Imperium (Sniper Rifle – Launch, Battle Pass)
Designed for destruction at its best, this bolt-action anti-personnel sniper rifle intervenes in tense situations with powerful caliber rounds. 408.
Kronen Flurry (Battle Rifle – Launch, Battle Pass)
Semi-automatic bullpup rifle chambered in 6.8 Wrath, designed for long range shooting and exceptional damage.
Additional weapons (in season)
Expect two new pistols in Season 03 Reloaded, both fully automatic with vastly different roles: a highly customizable submachine gun with a high rate of fire, and a high-caliber pistol modified for full-auto to knock enemies back when they get too close for comfort.
- One for the Collection: Trophy Hunt Event Opens Season 03
- The hunt continues into season 03.
Get ready to unleash your inner rival by taking part in the Season 03 Trophy Hunt event starting 48 hours after launch.
During this event, each player will receive a trophy – a small decorative challenge coin – whenever they are eliminated in any mode. These trophies can also be earned by completing certain tasks, such as opening supply crates.
These trophies can then be exchanged for items shown in the Events tab, including weapon blueprints, vehicle skins, and even Battle Pass Token Tier Skips. Those who redeem enough items will also unlock several exclusive Operator Skins for their efforts.
More information about this event will be available on this season’s Warzone 2.0 Tactical Review blog, although the event is available for both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
Season 03 Off-Season Camouflage Competition
Following the Path of the Ronin Camo Challenge event currently active at the end of Season 2, Season 03 will see players receive an exclusive set of camos that players can earn through the off-season event. More details about this event will be revealed later in the season.
New Battle Pass Offer: BlackCell

Battle Pass Update – Automatic Path Detection
In addition to the BlackCell offering, the Battle Pass offers an updated and simplified way to unlock content by adding an auto-path feature.
- Those who don’t mind what they earn first and who just want to rack up hours in the game can choose to have the Battle Pass automatically display an efficient path through the various AO sectors.
- Players can also manually earn Battle Token Level Passes and spend them like in previous seasons.
- There is still the option to manually unlock Battle Pass Sectors, and players can switch between the automatic and manual route at any time during the season, which is great for those who don’t mind what other rewards they’ll receive once they get their favorites.
