Apple Self-Repair Program lets you fix your iPhone and Mac on your own

Unexpectedly, Apple has announced a self-repair program for people who enjoy fixing their Apple products. The move may come as a surprise to many, as Apple is often criticized around the world for the cost of repairs. Through the Self-Repair Program, people can order special parts and tools from an online store to repair or replace an existing component. The repair program is currently available for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. Apple will soon expand the program to Macs with M1 chips. Let’s take a closer look at Apple’s self-repair program.

Apple Self Repair Program

Apple will allow consumers to self-repair their devices with a new Self Service Repair program. It is currently available for iPhone 12 and 13 models. The repair program will launch in early 2022 in the US and then in other countries throughout the year.

Apple said the initial phase of the program will focus on the most frequently serviced modules. These include the iPhone display, battery, and camera. Parts and tools for additional repairs will be available later next year.

In order for customers to safely repair a particular part or product, they must first read the Repair Manual. Users can then place an order for genuine Apple parts and tools at Apple’s online self-repair store. The company also says self-repair is for “individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices.”It encourages other consumers to use a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts for “the safest, most reliable way to repair.”

After successfully repairing a product, customers can return used parts for recycling and receive a purchase credit. Apple also said it doubled the number of locations with access to genuine Apple parts, tools and training, including more than 2,800 independent repair providers. In addition, Apple continues to offer customers convenient repair options through its global network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers who help millions of people service all of its products, both within and outside the warranty period.
