PS5: 20 million copies sold since launch
Sony Interactive Entertainment reports that PS5 sales have reached 20 million units sold worldwide.
During a recent financial report, Sony told its shareholders that it took the PS5 82 minutes to reach sales of 80,000 consoles, while the PS4 took nine days over the comparable period. Despite selling 20 million copies worldwide in almost two years, the PS5 is lagging behind. However, the Japanese giant expects the PS5 to overtake the PS4 in its fourth year on the market. The next generation console has been in high demand since its launch in November 2020, and if the worldwide shortage of electronic components was not a reality, it would have reached this milestone much sooner.
PS5 has now just hit the 20m sales milestone. A figure it would have hit far earlier, of course, if not for those shortages. It’s a significant milestone nonetheless. The company plans to significantly increase production https://t.co/RctEX4TSix
