Early renders show Galaxy S23 gets rid of camera bump

The Galaxy S23 is likely to arrive in five months, but now we have some idea of ​​what it will look like. Always reliable OnLeaks has a new set of renders for the device. They are usually based on CAD files released to case and accessory manufacturers, so while some small details such as logo placement may not be correct, the major components should be correct.

OnLeaks has a render of the base model S23, and the big news is that it got rid of the camera bump. The S21 and S22 had a large raised block growing out of the corner, but in this render of the S23, only three exposed camera lenses protrude from the back. This design change will bring base-model (and presumably Plus-model) phones in line with the S22 Ultra, which has a similar lens-only camera protrusion. The S22 Ultra’s individual camera lenses looked great, but as with any angled camera setup, the impact makes the phone unstable when resting on a flat surface.

The report lists the phone as “roughly”146.3×70.8×7.6mm with a 6.1-inch display. It should ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, a 120Hz display, and hopefully an upgrade for the tiny 3,700mAh battery the S22 shipped with this year.

Incidentally, Onleaks also posted renders of the S23 Ultra, but this device looks almost identical to the S22 Ultra, complete with the returning S-Pen. Both of these phones are due out early next year.
