Rebel Moon: Netflix’s Star Wars should start production soon
While much of the distribution of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon feature film is already known, production could finally be up and running in the next few months.
Director Zack Snyder is assembling an all-star cast for his Star Wars-inspired sci-fi universe. Charlie Hunnam (“Crimson Peak”, “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”, “Gentlemen”, “Last Glances”), Djimon Hounsou (“The Legend of Tarzan”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Captain Marvel”), Ray Fisher (“Justice League”, “True Detective”), Bae Doo-na (“Eighth Sense”, “Alien”, “Silent Sea”), Rupert Friend (“Motherland”, “Death of Stalin”, “Strange Angel”) and Stewart Martin (Army of Thieves, Dampier) will join the cast of Rebel Moon along with Sofia Boutella (Blond Explosive, Fahrenheit). 451, Prisoners of the Land of Ghosts). Netflix wants to have a Star Wars competitor with Rebel Moon
Rebel Moon is set in a peaceful colony at the edge of the galaxy, threatened by the armies of the tyrant-regent Balisarius. They send a young woman with a mysterious past to find warriors on neighboring planets who will help them resist the Tyrant. Zack Snyder is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Jonstad. He also produces with Deborah Snyder and Wesley Koller for The Stone Quarry and Eric Newman of Grand Electric. Bergen Swanson is an executive producer along with Shay Hatten, Kurt Johnstad and Sarah Bowen at Grand Electric. Finally, Ori Marmur, VP of Studio Film, is overseeing the project for Netflix.
