Just like any other item in this game, you need to collect the right ingredients to make an anvil. Here are all the ingredients you will need:
- 3x Iron block

After collecting these items, place them on the 3×3 crafting grid in the following order:
- Place all iron blocks on the first row.

If you placed them correctly in this order, then you will get the Anvil in Minecraft.
How to use an anvil in minecraft?
As mentioned above, Anvil is used to repair or rename items. There are three slots on the anvil which include:
- The left slot is the target element you want to change.
- The middle slot is the element you will add to the target.
- The right slot is the final product.
The bar at the bottom of these slots displays the required enchantment level to complete the process. Here’s how you can use Anvil in Minecraft:
Subject of repair
To repair an item, you will have to use the material from which it was made. For example, if you want to repair an iron pickaxe, you will use an iron. Although items such as bows or scissors cannot be repaired with anything other than another bow or scissors. Similarly, there are other exceptions, such as the tortoise shell being repaired with scutes, elytra with phantom membranes, and mail armor with iron ingots.
Rename element
Another important use of the anvil in Minecraft is to rename an item or stack of items. Also, the maximum rename length is 35 characters in Bedrock Edition. Whereas, in Java Edition, the limit is 50 characters for renaming an element using Anvil. Also, some items have special effects after being renamed.
- Renaming a fish bucket will also rename the fish inside it.
- Also, renaming a spawn egg will create a mob with the same name.
- The name of the weapon that has been renamed is displayed in the death message after killing the player.
Enchantment
In addition to using an enchantment table, you can also use an anvil to enchant an item. Simply place the item you want to enchant into the left slot and the Enchanted Book into the right slot. In comparison, enchanting an item can cost a bit more than repairing or renaming it.
