Review of the Woolnut 14-inch MacBook Pro premium leather sleeve

Review of the Woolnut 14-inch MacBook Pro premium leather sleeve

Choose Woolnut’s premium leather sleeve if you’re looking for a fashionable and protective sleeve for your MacBook Pro. We cover every aspect of the high-end item in our review, from the stitching to the leather quality to the overall design, to help you make an informed choice.

For me, the accessories for my Apple gadgets must be just as high-end as the actual products. For our iPhones, iPads, iMacs, and MacBooks, we all paid top cash. These devices frequently cost many hundred dollars more than their closest rival. We still have to pay for it, though.

Because of this, I believe that any accessories I use with my Apple devices should also enjoy this premium experience. For me, Woolnut has emerged as that reliable source for accessories.

Let’s look at their leather 14″ MacBook Pro sleeve.

Woolnut leather sleeve for 14″ MacBook Pro

For my MacBook Pro “Escape,” I’ve been using a Woolnut sleeve for almost two years. That is unquestionably a long-term review. I shuffle my MacBook Pro around at home, cram it in and out of my backpack, and do all of that every day. If I’m working on my laptop while traveling, it serves as my placemat. The leather has broken in over time, so it may have a little more patina now than when I first opened it, but it still looks just as nice.

I received an upgraded 14-inch model from Woolnut for the brand-new MacBook Pro 14-inch form factor.

Even before I opened the gift, the leather fragrance was the first thing I noticed. Returning to the concept of premium experiences, the Woolnut bundle is appropriate for the item. It has an Apple-like feel to it. Like a great boxed book set, there is an outer box that contains an interior box. After you remove the inner box and open it, the sleeve will be found meticulously tucked within a washable cloth bag. The package is stunning in and of itself. I’m pinning words to the packaging because it shows that the business is similarly fixated on the specifics of its actual product.

At this point, it’s impossible to miss the scent of their “signature” full-grain Scandinavian leather. Precision stitching holds everything together in a tight bundle when used with 100% natural wool felt.

It is a very satisfyingly snug fit when slipping the 14-inch MacBook Pro into the sleeve at first. It fits, without a question, but, like my previous generation, it is clear where the edges of the leather will start to break in. Over time, the pebbled texture ages and smoothes out even more.

Notably, when the sleeve opens on each side, there is a reinforcement stitch. This makes sure that the MacBook Pro’s frequent pushing and pulling won’t separate the top layer from the bottom layer.

Nitpicks

An edge-style stitch is used to sandwich and bring together the leather and wool. This results in a 1 to 2 millimeter leather margin around the perimeter of the sleeve.

As expected, the bottom parameter edge of my prior version is slightly smudged from supporting the weight of my laptop for two years when it was laying upright in my backpack. I’m simply bringing this up to draw notice since it would be interesting to see what an inside stitched could have to offer in terms of appearance and functioning. It hasn’t diminished my experience, and it doesn’t even look unsightly.

In essence, the stitch is placed inside the sleeve, which is subsequently pushed outside, leaving no margin. Yet, this results in a thicker edge. I’ve seen this done well on other sleeves, but I’m getting off topic.

Some competing options include interiors made of wool in various colors to go with their larger arrangement. Just the outside leather color can be changed on a Woolnut product; the standard gray wool felt is not an option. To playfully tweak both would be amusing.

I never really like branding, even when I’m paying a premium for a premium product. On one side of the sleeve, a subdued Woolnut logo is debossed. It is modest, tasteful, and just covers the lower back. Fine. But, there is also a really fine fabric tag that is stitched inside to serve as a reminder of where individuals purchased the item.

Overall, none of these really alarm me, but they should still be noted for the purpose of a review.

Conlusion

Having previously tried Apple leather products, I can categorically state that I much prefer Woolnut products. I now own a small collection of Woolnut products, and in a future post, I’ll discuss my thoughts on their AirPods Pro case.

My entire collection of accessories is Cognac in hue, and they all go together flawlessly. These complement my Alpha Bravo Tumi backpack in black and brown leather beautifully. I frequently meet with clients while on the road for business. In my field of work, having a professional set of accessories enhances my professional image.

Purchase a Woolnut sleeve in one of the various MacBook sizes. This particular style is available in Black, Cognac, Green, and Grey and is tailored exclusively for MacBook Pro 14′′. They have the option of Matte PU or Leather. Given the commentary above, it should come as no surprise that the price, $119, is a fair one for the high-quality device.
