WWE 2K23 Universe Mode: New Rivalry System Explained

WWE 2K23’s Universe Mode just got even more fun with a new Rival Action system. Usually, the outcome of the rivalry on Raw, SmackDown or NXT is decided by the system. However, this new addition will now give players more creative freedom when creating rivalries. Sounds intriguing, right? Here’s everything you need to know about the new Universe Mode.

What is the new competitive system in WWE 2K23 Universe Mode?

The rivalry in Universe Mode used to be too predictable as there were repetitive cutscenes. But now we can decide how the match starts, how the weekly promotions work, and how the match ends. Wait, that’s not the case, we can also decide what happens after the match.

As we know, for any WWE Superstar, Momentum is the key to entering the square circle. With that in mind, the new Momentum feature has now been added to Universe Mode. To be precise, the Superstar gains momentum after winning matches. In addition, Momentum can be used to add a special cinematic animation to a match. This will surely make your bookings even more watchable in the WWE 2K23 Universe mode.

It should also be noted here that in previous games, any event during the rivalry was determined by the personality of the superstar. For example, Finn Balor, being a Heel Superstar, would refuse to shake hands with Edge after a 5-star match. However, in this new “Universe”mode, you have the right to decide what happens in such post-match events.

Although we need Momentum for all this, there is another way to do it for free. Well, the new free mode allows us to choose actions and events regardless of Superstar Impulse. Since Momentum is enabled by default, you need to enable Freemode while on the opponent’s action screen in universe mode.

This covers everything about the new and improved WWE 2K23 Universe mode. While you’re here, be sure to check out our other video game guides.
