Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 campaign difficulty modes: which one to choose (explained)
With the recent launch of Modern Warfare 2, a lot of new features have been introduced. But some features are returning. This includes the various difficulty levels or modes that MW2 offers. You can choose any suitable difficulty level or mode for different game modes. But many players who are new to such features fail to select the correct level. Don’t worry, check out our guide that explains MW2’s campaign difficulty modes and which one to choose.
Campaign difficulty modes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (explained)
Here are all the modes or difficulty levels featured in COD Modern Warfare 2:
- Recruit
- Ordinary
- Tempered
- veteran
- Realism
While these modes above present a challenge, there are also a few differences between them. Let’s look at each of these difficulty levels or modes in more detail:
Recruit
This is the easiest difficulty mode of all levels. If you are new to COD or FPS games, this might be the right choice for you. This mode will be similar to the training ground as players take less damage. And AI enemies shooting at you will have an inaccurate target.
Ordinary
As the name suggests, the normal level is quite easy and has a normal difficulty. It can be defined as a normal difficulty mode. The damage you deal in this mode will be average and more than in recruit mode. The aim and range of AI opponents facing you will also be better. But at the same time, aiming is less accurate than at the Hardened level.
Tempered
Unlike the previous difficulty levels, the Hardened level is much harder. At this difficulty level, you will have less health. Both the scope and range for AI enemies will be exceptionally accurate. Some COD players choose this mode to achieve milestones and trophies in MW2. However, it is much easier and less difficult than in Veteran and Realistic modes. Choosing this mode will allow players to sharpen their skills and improve aiming.
veteran
This is considered the hardest difficulty mode. As the game description says, “You won’t survive.”In this mode, you will have fewer items and a full HUD. Veteran difficulty mode offers players extremely less health, but takes more damage from enemies. On the contrary, your opponents can deal exceptionally more damage compared to previous difficulties. They have more health as well as accuracy. In addition, their aiming will be accurate.
Realism
This difficulty mode is a veteran mode with a limited HUD. Although it has some similarities to Veteran Mode, it is comparatively more difficult. And that’s because of its limited HUD. These reduced HUD elements include weapon display, smaller grenade slots, ammo cost, name tags of your squad mates, and more. Having said that, you also need to unlock this mode. So, check out our guide on how to unlock realism mode for more information.
Which campaign difficulty mode should I choose in Modern Warfare 2?
In my opinion, this decision depends solely on your play style and experience. As mentioned earlier, selecting the Recruit mode is fine if you’re new to COD. For returning COD players, choosing Regular or Hardened will help you get used to MW2. Finally, experienced skillful players should choose the Realistic or Veteran difficulty level. This might be the right task you are looking for.
Having said that, it’s up to you to decide which difficulty level or mode suits you best. So we leave the decision up to you.
