Safecuts Protects Hacked Shortcut Users on iOS 15.0-15.3.1 from Vulnerability

iOS developer 0xilis has released a new free jailbreak tweak for iOS and iPadOS 15 devices called Safecuts that supposedly makes using the Shortcuts app more secure on devices running iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.3.1.

The new tweak comes just after the palera1n team successfully added tweak support to iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.7.1 for their developer-focused jailbreak, and according to the 0xilis release post on Reddit, the timing was no coincidence.

In regards to improving the security of the Shortcuts app on iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.3.1, 0xilis says it fixes a known vulnerability that Apple patched initially in iOS and iPadOS 15.4, helping to ensure users aren’t targeted by any surface attacks. when using shortcuts on their locked phone:

More information about the vulnerability was covered in a 0xilis tweet in March:

Discussing how the tweak works, 0xilis says that Safecuts looks for any actions that cause an import vulnerability and removes them before the import completes.

While users can only take advantage of Safecuts while in the jailbreak state, it’s worth noting that any shortcuts imported with Safecuts won’t have this potential issue even after importing, meaning you’ll still be protected even when you boot into the jailbreak state. no hack, unless you re-import the shortcut or another shortcut with actions that could cause a vulnerability in that non-hack state.

The developer also recommends deleting and re-importing any shortcuts you may already be using while jailbroken and with Safecuts set, just to filter out unwanted activities from those shortcuts. God saves man, who save himself!

Some of you may remember 0xilis as zachary7829, the same developer who brought us useful shortcut-based jailbreak tweaks in the past, such as Pastcuts, which allows crackers on iOS or iPadOS 13 or 14 to use shortcuts created on iOS or iPadOS 15. So, if you were skeptical about the need for this jailbreak tweak on a locked iOS or iPadOS 15 device, then this should give you the confidence you need in its reputation.

If you want to try the Safecuts jailbreak tweak, you can get it from the 0xilis personal repository through your favorite package management app. Please note that the tweak is currently only for devices jailbroken on iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.3.2 via palera1n. In addition, the tweak is available open source on the developer’s GitHub page for those who want to learn more about it.

If you are not already using the 0xilis personal repository, you can add it to your package manager application using the URL below:
