Samsung combines Pay and Pass in one Wallet app
Samsung is merging its Pay and Pass apps into one app called Wallet. The latter even allows you to track your cryptocurrencies.
Samsung wants to make it easier for its users to store credit card information and other sensitive digital data on their phone. More recently, the South Korean giant announced the merger of its Pay and Pass apps into a single Wallet platform. With this change, you no longer have to use two different apps to manage your digital identity. Instead, the company’s new Wallet app will let you store your payment card information for mobile payments, as well as your login credentials for websites and apps.

And Samsung explains that it’s also possible to store digital keys for brands like BMW, Genesis, Hyundai and Kia, as well as airline boarding passes starting with Korea Air. And just in time for the crypto winter that is currently affecting the entire crypto community, it is also possible to keep an eye on your cryptocurrencies on a wide selection of exchanges within the app.
In a few months, the app will also be able to store a variety of IDs, including student ID cards and other driver’s licenses, of course from participating institutions. There is also integration with the Samsung SmartThings platform. Everything is also securely stored on your device with the Samsung Knox security system.
The latter even allows you to track your cryptocurrencies.
Samsung Wallet is available today in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. If you already have Pay and Pass apps installed on your smartphone, they will prompt you to switch to this new Wallet app the next time you open any of them. This app has been highly anticipated in the Samsung community, especially since the company added support for digital car keys last year.
